The options of non/institutional care for people in productive age suffering from Parkinson disease

(in English): The aim of this diploma thesis is to analyse an availability of care for people mostly in productive age suffering from Parkinson's disease. In the first part, the author describes in a detail symptoms and medical treatment of the disease with an emphasis on the effects of these symptoms on life of patient and his/her surroundings. Following part pay attention to a specific group of so-called Young Onset, or younger patients. Finally, the thesis analyses the current state of the care in the Czech Republic with a comparison to a Dutch model. After exposing problematic spots in the Czech model, the author offers recommendations for viable changes in the institutional care system. The technique of analysing secondary literature was used in order to achieve the aim of this thesis.
Care of aging or dying individuals with mental disabilities living in residential facilities

This bachelor thesis investigates possibilities of care provision for ageing or dying people with intellectual disabilities within different types of residential facilities as are for instance homes for people with disabilities, sheltered housing, nursing homes or week-care centers. For purposes of this research, residential facilities in Prague were chosen to examine what their approach is when it comes to the issues related to ageing or dying of their clients, how they consider their special needs and what are the barriers keeping them from living the rest of their lives in the environment of residential services which they often perceive as their home. Mapping of the workload of social service workers in homes for the elderly

This thesis focuses on mapping out work burden of formal caregivers in social services, above all on cathegories influencing a level of the burden. Its aim is to describe cathegories/areas of work burden of caregivers in retirement homes at standard wards and at wards with a special measures regime, where they take care of clients suffering from dementia. A sub-aim is to find out whether there are differences in perception of the work burden at the two types of wards and differences between work burden at these wards. Based on the conclusion of this thesis, recommendations for the management of retirement homes will be formulated. The research will be conducted in a retirement home which has both types of wards - the standard one and the one with speacial measures regime. Its respondents will be the formal caregivers of these wards. Contemporary Social Context and Possibilities of Employing Older People in Social Enterprises

(in English) The aim of this dissertation is to create an overview of elderly people employment in social businesses in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part describes a social entrepreneurship, defines it and gives its legal frame and examples of such businesses in Europe and in the Czech Republic. The category of the elderly is defined according to their characteristics and also according to the possible link to long term unemployment. The connection with the Age management is presented at the end of the theoretical part. The empirical part focuses on the overall situation of the elderly in social businesses and on factors possibly affecting their employment in this kind of businesses. It was found out in the research that the selected target group is one of those most at risk on the labour market. At the same time, this group is one of the least supported and monitored not only in the social businesses. However, persons 50+ may become a significant group on the labour market in the future. The final part of this thesis stresses out that it is vital to change our point of view on this target group and its support on the field of active labour market policy, but, above all, to make use of the opportunity to employ these people in social entrepreneurship which is described in this dissertation...

The life of seniors in different types of settlements in Vysočina Region

(in English) The aim of this bachelor thesis is to compare selected aspects of life of seniors living in different types of settlements in the Vysočina Region. The compared settlements are the county town of Jihlava, the former district town Pelhřimov, and Kamenice nad Lipou which is a municipality with an authorized municipal office. The work consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part deals with terms related to senior age, the elderly, meaningfulness of life, active ageing, and demographics of the Czech Republic. The main sources used were reference books, Fram planning documents and other documents from the areas of the research. The practical part contains the actual research, which consists of a semi-structured questionnaire and a personal observation of specific age groups of seniors in the monitored areas. The outcomes of the research describe availability of social and health services in the settlements, aspects of life which are important to seniors and ways the requirements for the quality of life of seniors in those locations are fulfilled.
