The Assessment of Pain by a Nurse and the Control of Post-operative Pain

This diploma work is focused on post-surgical pain. It lays out the role of a nurse in pain assessment, factors influencing post-surgical pain and ways of its controlling. It also publishes the results of the research organized in the surgical fields of the Central Military Hospital Prague in January and February 2006. The work is structured into two large parts, theoretical and empirical one. The diploma work underlines the importance of the team cooperation of all those who participate in pain management and in individualized complex nursing care for a patient in the past-surgical time period.

Searching for the Identity of Jewish Congragations in Contemporary Prague

89 7. RESUMÉ The thesis is focused on the life of Jewish community in Prague, on the background of post-Holocaust and post-communist Europe. In the first part, the reader is introduced into the historical and sociological views on Jewish identity, with an emphasis on Central Europe and Prague in particular. The main part of the thesis is divided in separate chapters, each dedicated to one of the contemporary Jewish congregations in Prague. A special attention is given to the Jewish Community of Prague (Kehila Prag, or ŽOP). The other congregations analyzed in the thesis are Chabad Prague (part of Hasidic movement Chabad Lubavitch), Bejt Simcha and Jewish Liberal Union (both liberal/progressive), Bejt Praha and Masorti Prague (both conservative). Since the current situation of the communities has been poorly covered in relevant literature, our main sources of knowledge have been the internet pages of individual congregations, legal documents (statutes, articles of association), and periodicals issued by some of the communities. The question "Who is a Jew" is central in searching for the Jewish identities. The answers vary across the congregations (according to their nature - orthodox, conservative, liberal), with ŽOP being the most problematic. The Czech crown and the king in conceptions of Czech nobility at the turn of middle ages and modern period

The political system of the Estates, developing in the 15th century and gaining its final form in the last quarter of the century, placed also in the Lands of the Bohemian Crown a new political subject next to the monarch, formed on the statal level. In the Kingdom of Bohemia it was first of all the nobility - the high nobility and the knights - who claimed their share of political power. Gaining a political ground, they developed a collective estates' consciousness and formed their view of the role of the monarch and the Czech crown. Both estates acquired a considerable power towards the end of the century - under the rule of the king Vladislaus II the Jagiellonian. The nobility focused their attention on the bodies of government, the highest being the land diet. Soon they also took interest in obtaining the land rights and privileges, which they saw as a basis for assessing their rights and the way of claiming their rights against the monarch.
