Immigrant Economy and Russian Entrepreneurs in Prague

The thesis deals with the phenomenon, sometimes called "Russian infrastructure", which is created by Russian small and middle entrepreneurs. They are presented here as economic actors in search for business opportunities who make plans and strategies to achieve them. Their economic activities are conceptualized through the immigrant economy concept, which refers to the phenomena of entrepreneurship and employment of ethnic minorities and migrants within networks created by themselves (Nekorjak 2009). Both the hypothesis and the subject is the existence of an immigrant economy defined as a space of social and economic relations based on language and cultural affinity in which Russian immigrant entrepreneurs operate, and on which they depend in their economic activities. The aim is to identify the main characteristics and functioning mechanisms of this immigrant economy. The key questions revolves around the importance of ethnic networks from which migrants receive capital resources, the role of language and sociocultural affinity in economic relations, and finally the effect of structural factors on entrepreneurial strategies, especially the role of growing importance of migration flows from Russia, tourism, international trade and global real estate market. Migration of Ukrainian Citizens to the Czech Republic and Its Impacts on Their Perception by the Czech Majority

This thesis focuses on the problems of Ukrainian immigration to the Czech Republic and its impacts on the Czech majority society. The aim is to describe and evaluate the Ukrainian migration into the Czech Republic after the declaration of Ukrainian independence in 1991, which is followed by pointing out the main aspects that may influence views on the Ukrainian minority in the Czech Republic. Another part of the thesis is to summarize the views of the Czech majority on the Ukrainian minority living in the Czech Republic. This survey is conducted on the basis of the results of public opinion CVVM and STEM. The research clearly shows signs of negative attitude that Czech majority society have to the Ukrainian minority living in the Czech Republic. The vast majority of Ukrainians living in the Czech Republic live in Prague and its surroundings. Integration of Foreign Children in Schools - case study conducted in the Christian Doppler Secondary School in Prague Abstract: The aim of this Bachelor thesis is to investigate how and to what extent foreign children integrate into the Czech educational system and what results they achieve in comparison to Czech pupils. During the process of integration, foreign children are faced with influences from their new society which they perceive in the context of the customs and traditions of their previous surroundings. This Bachelor thesis therefore investigates both the process of integration and the various effects and factors connected with it. The thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part draws from research of the relevant literature and studies. The practical part consists of both quantitative and qualitative research conducted in the Christian Doppler Secondary School in Prague. The research is based on quantitative data provided by the school officials and enhanced by interviews with chosen members of the teaching staff, representatives of foreign communities and majority and the school.
