Teorie relativity - jak na středoškolské úrovni rozvíjet její pochopení
Ryston, Matěj ; Dvořák, Leoš (advisor) ; Novotný, Jan (referee) ; Šlégr, Jiří (referee)
The goal of this doctoral thesis is to find and implement possible ways to facilitate secondary school students' understanding of relativity. The thesis starts with an overview of existing literature as well as ongoingstudies concerned with teachingrelativityto secondarystudents, especially in connection with possible misconceptions and other learning difficulties. Furthermore, it maps available book and internet sources on relativity in both Czech and English that students might use outside of school. A research of Czech curricular documents for upper secondaryeducationandan online surveyamonggymnasium physics teachers were used to assess the current situation of teaching relativity in these schools. Based on the mentioned research, it was decided to develop learning resources focused on General Relativity. Following an analysis of a selection of relativity textbooks on this topic, a study website for interested students as well as a teaching-learningsequence for teachers to adapt in their own teaching were developed. The development and assessment of these materials are described in detail.
Hydrogen atom on university and high school level
Legerská, Jana ; Koupilová, Zdeňka (advisor) ; Dvořák, Leoš (referee)
This master thesis is focused on teaching the hydrogen atom on a university and high school level. The objective of this thesis is to compare ap- proaches to hydrogen atom in available university study materials. Based on this comparison, a study text appropriate for the second year students of education of Physics at FMP CU attending the Quantum mechanics course has been pre- pared. The second goal is to chart available study materials concerning hydrogen atom suitable for high school students. A seminar for high shool students has been designed and piloted. Within this seminar, the students were introduced to the hydrogen atom and atomic orbitals. A worksheet for the seminar and an in- formative text for teachers are enclosed in this thesis together with several tasks published in the Collection of Solved Problems in Physics. 1
Electrostatics generators
Hnyk, Michal ; Dvořák, Leoš (advisor) ; Šabatka, Zdeněk (referee)
Title: Electrostatic generators Author: Michal Hnyk Department: Department of Physics Education Supervisor: doc. RNDr. Leoš Dvořák, CSc., Department of Physics Education Abstract: This bachelor thesis named Electrostatic generators is divided into four main parts. The first part deals with the role of experiment in physics teaching on primary and high schools and brings some important arguments why the experiment plays irreplaceable role in teaching physics. Second part deals with the explanation of principles of operation of some particular types of real electrostatic generators. Third part describes the concept of construction, its' improvements and experience with building of the Bonetti electrostatic machine, which can become a desirable instrument in schools thanks to its' properties and affordable cost. There are also results of measurements of some parameters of available generators mentioned. Fourth part consists of gathered school demonstrative experiments from electrostatics, which are chosen to match teachers' needs by their simplicity of performing and their applicability to demonstration of electrostatics for students. Keywords: electrostatics, generator, experiment
Solved problems in Theoretical Mechanics to Electronic Database of Solved Tasks
Hruška, Viktor ; Dvořák, Leoš (advisor) ; Šabatka, Zdeněk (referee)
Solved Problems in Theoretical Mechanics to Electronic Database of Solved Tasks Abstract: The main goal of this bachelor thesis was to create set of tasks with structural hints and detailed solution in the field of theoretical mechanics. 16 tasks were created and published within The Electronic Collection of Solved Problems in Physics on the web. The tasks are meant to serve the university level students and they are adapted for self study. Keywords: theoretical mechanics, principle of virtual work, Lagrange equations of the second kind, electronic collection of tasks, structured solutions of tasks
Electricity and magnetism: Hands-on minds-on approach
Koudelková, Věra ; Dvořák, Leoš (advisor) ; Kireš, Marián (referee) ; Richterek, Lukáš (referee)
Title: Electricity and magnetism: Hands-on minds-on approach Author: Věra Koudelková Department: Department of Physics Education Supervisor: Doc. RNDr. Leoš Dvořák, CSc., KDF Abstract: The PhD. thesis is focused on high school students' understanding of electricity and magnetism and on experiments which can help students to develop this understanding. The thesis can be divided into two parts: In the first research part typical misconceptions of high school students in the area of electricity and magnetism are described, both misconceptions known from foreign literature and results of Czech Conceptual Test of Electricity and Magnetism. This test is based on the known Conceptual Survey of Electricity and Magnetism, but unlike it and other conceptual tests in electricity and magnetism this new Czech test is intended for high school students. The second part of the thesis is developmental. It contains methodical materials, lab works and experiments which partly arise from the discovered misconceptions. In this part of the work four learning sequences (we chose topics, which were identified as problematic for students), four laboratory works and 13 experiments are described. Prepared materials were verified during instructions in high school and during conferences for physics teachers. Experiences with them are...
