The effort of every company is to lead its employees to good working results, which can be achieved in several ways. One of them is the correct motivation, which affects the behavior of people and helps them to achieve set goals. Various forms of motivation are used for efficient management of individuals and work teams. Using the appropriate method of motivation can be used to increase work performance of employees and thus improve results throughout the company. The first part of diploma thesis is based on study of professional literature and summarizes theoretical knowledge of motivation. This section explains the basic concepts of motivation, motivation theory, and other factors related to motivation in the work environment. The second part summarizes results of a survey of employees supplemented by interviews with members of leadership of selected companies. The aim of this part was to determine the level of employee motivation and satisfaction in the workplace. The research results may be used by management of monitored companies as a starting point for improvement of existing motivational resources or for introduction of additional incentive programs, which would increase the efficiency of individual employees and the entire workforce.
