Modelování a simulace složitých geotechnických problémů
Blaheta, Radim
This paper provides three examples of chalenging geotechnical problems which require application of mathematical modelling and use of efficient numerical methods and powerful parallel computers. These examples give a motivation and exploit methods developed within the project MSTEP:Modelling and Simulation of complex Technical Problems.

Počítačová implementace mikro MKP
Blaheta, Radim ; Krečmer, Karel
This paper concerns a special application of the finite element method (FEM), which is modelling of microstructure of materials. This “micro” application of FEM brings some specific features, which can be exploited in the numerical realization and computer implementation of the method. These features are briefly discussed in this paper and will be further developed in a future work.

Modelování THM procesů v horninách
Blaheta, Radim ; Kohut, Roman ; Neytcheva, M. ; Starý, Jiří
This paper is devoted to medelling thermal (T), hydraulic (H) and mechanical (M) processes in rocks. These physical processes seem to be most important ones for many engineering applications ranging from the classical mining, tunelling and underground constructions to new geotechnologies of waste disposal or geothermal anergy utilization.

Víceúrovňové hierarchické předpodmínění (úvod do problematiky)
Blaheta, Radim ; Byczanski, Petr
The paper describes hierarchical decompositions and AMLI preconditioners, analysis of hierarchical decomposition methods through CBS constant in 2D and 3D, discusses robustness with respect to anisotropy and element shape and introduces fully algebraic AMLI with aggregation or agglomeration. Finally, the paper discusses recent results concerning algebraic theory of AMLI for nonconforming FEś.

Parallel Computing and FEM
Blaheta, Radim
The contribution describes application of parallel computing for numerical solution of boundary value problems like elasticity, heat conduction etc. by the finite element method (FEM). The main application concerns solution of large scale linear algebraic systems by domain decomposition methods.

Aplikace paralelních výpočtů v geotechnice
Starý, Jiří ; Blaheta, Radim ; Kohut, Roman
The paper concerns the mathematical modelling of elasticity and thermo-elasticity problems arising from two challenging geotechnical tasks. The modelling leads to solving the sequence of large-scale systems of linear equations. For such systems, we use high performance iterative solvers being able to run on parallel computers.
