Possibilities of Using the Internet in teaching German at secondary schools in the Czech Republic

The aim of this diploma thesis is to show the possibilities of using the Internet in order to make language learning more effective. In the centre of attention is the language learning at secondary schools in the Czech Republic. The aims, contents and particularities of teaching German at secondary schools in the Czech Republic are defined at the beginning, followed by a discussion about convenient didactic methods according to the educational theories. Internet tools and other its characteristics, which could contribute to the efficiency improvement of language teaching, are also introduced. The thesis also pays attention to the specialized terminology. In the practical part, we can find, at first, some specific prerequisites of using the Internet in teaching a foreign language. We can also find some concrete examples of using the Internet as a support in teaching with regards to the established educational aims. All is based on my own teaching experience and on an extensive internet and foreign literature research. Some useful internet web pages are also mentioned. The thesis shows that the Internet offers quite a lot of possibilities which could, in a way, contribute to efficiency improvement in teaching German.

Linking social novel and fantasy on an example of Kirsten Boie. Didactic adaptation of the novel "Alhambra"

Thesis covering topic of Linking social novel and fantasy on an example of Kirsten Boie. Didactic adaptation of the novel "Alhambra" deals with the use of literature in foreign language teaching. The theoretical part discusses its overall contribution to the development of key skills of mastering a foreign language for a student, on the conditions and rules for its use in class. Literature used in class may represent a new source of information about the target language and society that uses it, so it can be used also for multicultural education and with cross-subject projects. The second part deals with the personality of Kirsten Boie and her art, especially the novel "Alhambra" and its theoretical and practical specifics, including a possible contribution to the lesson. In this part an alternative educational material was created, which alone represents a new impetus and a change in the method of teaching for pupils and teachers. Theme and stylistic style of social novel "Alhambra" with historical and fantasy elements doesn't resemble a classic-sounding articles in textbooks, it is thematically attractive for students and arouses curiosity and motivation to read it. The Educational Process in a Waldorf School with a View to the Teaching of the German Language

Meine Diplomarbeit sollte das pädagogische Konzept der Waldorfschule, als einer der wichtigsten Bildungsalternativen in der heutigen Tschechischen Republik, aus didaktischer Sicht untersuchen. In meiner Arbeit setzte ich mir vor allem das Ziel, die Spezifika der Methoden im Deutschunterricht dieser Schulform zu beschreiben. Zu diesem Zweck verwendete ich ausgewählte tschechische und fremdsprachliche Literaturquellen, zugängliche pädagogische Dokumente der Waldorfschulen und zahlreiche Internetseiten mit aktuellsten Informationen über das Thema. Für den praktischen Teil nutzte ich darüber hinaus noch folgende empirische Methoden: die Analyse der pädagogischen Dokumente, ein Interview und eigene Beobachtungen. Als Informationsquelle standen mir zwei Prager Grundschulen mit Waldorfunterricht und das neueröffnete Waldorflyzeum, gleichfalls in Prag, zur Verfugung. In den ersten drei Kapiteln beschäftigte ich mich mit dem Thema überwiegend theoretisch. Neben den Bemühungen der bedeutendsten alternativen pädagogischen Bewegungen um eine Umgestaltung der heutigen Schule, erläuterte ich die Anfänge und Hauptideen der Waldorfpädagogik und konzentrierte mich im übrigen auf die spezifische Schulorganisation und den Unterrichtsinhalt der Waldorfschule im Allgemeinen.

The Relationship between Language and Thought, Natural Bilingualism, Bilingual Instruction Realized at Schools in the Czech Republic with a focus on the German Language

Thema dieser Diplomarbeit ist bilinguale Ausbildung in der Tschechischen Republik mit dem Schwerpunkt auf die deutsch-tschechische bilinguale Ausbildung. Ihre Geschichte, gegenwärtiger Stand und nicht zuletzt deren möglichen Schwierigkeiten in Hinsicht auf die aktuellen Veränderungen im tschechischen Bildungssystem. Der theoretische Teil behandelt die Sprache im Allgemeinen, ihre Definitionen und Funktionen. Besondere Aufmerksamkeit wird dabei dem Verhältnis zwischen der Sprache und dem Denken gewidmet. Es wird auch die Problematik des Sprachenerwerbs bei der Muttersprache behandelt, sowie die theoretischen Konzeptionen und die einzelnen Phasen des Erwerbs. Das dritte Kapitel befasst sich mit den theoretischen Grundlagen des Terminus Bilingualismus oder auch Zweisprachigkeit und deren komplizierten und nicht einheitlichen Definitionen. Welche Gründe des Bilingualismus finden wir, nach welchen Kriterien wird er eingeteilt. Aus den verschiedenen Typen des Bilingualismus ( individueller, kolektiver, koordinativer, usw.) wird im dem praktischen Teil der Arbeit der schulische Bilingualismus betrachtet.

Comparative analysis of the contents of German language exams with focus on the German language diploma II KMK exam

Meine Arbeit analysiert und vergleicht die urspriingliche und die gegenwártige Version des Deutschen Sprachdiploms des zweiten Grades der Kultusministerkonferenz. Die Innovationen dieser Priifung entstanden auf Grund der Anpassung des Sprachentestens an das Dokument des Europarats an den Gemeinsamen europaischen Referenzrahmen fur Sprachen, in dem unter anderem die Anforderungen an ein modern gestaltetes Beurteilen vermittelt werden. In der Analyse werden die Unterschiede im Inhalt, in der Form und im Umfang von Testen der Sprachmitteln und Sprachfertigkeiten festgestellt. Es wird die Anwendung von Aufgabentypen beobachtet und es werden auch die Veranderungen in den Bewertungskriterien von beiden Priifungsversionen vergleicht. In der gegenwartigen Priifung werden die Sprachmittel nur noch als Bestandteil vom Testen der Sprachfertigkeiten beurteilt. Die bestehende Priifung weist einen ausgeglichenen Anteil aller Sprachfertigkeiten an der Bewertung der Priifung aus, und zwar zugunsten der rezeptiven Sprachfertigkeiten. Die Priifungsteile Hórverstehen und Leseverstehen verftigen jetzt iiber ein breiteres Spektrum von Aufgabentypen, deren Geschlossenheit zum hoheren Genauigkeitsgrad der Bewertung und zu einer schnelleren Auswertung fiihrt. TITLE: Reflection of Nazism in selected literary and picturized works of German literature for youth and children and their didactical adaptation SUMMARY: The Thesis describes projection of Nazism to the literature for youth and children. It focuses on different conception of Nazism in 'intentional'literature, which primary concentrates on child as a recipient and in 'not intentional'literature, which primary does not concentrate on child as a recipient. The comparison consists of analysis of the selected literary works Is Hitler das rosa Kaninchen stahl" and "Nackt unter Wolfen " and their film versions. Based on the analysis is worked out a didactical adaptation of both works in the German and other lessons. Improvement of Writing as One of the Language Skills in Teaching German to Adults

Title: Improvement of Writing as One of the Language Skills in Teaching German to Adults Summary: The thesis deals with errors in the position of verb in writing assignments of adult distance-studies students of College of Information Management and Business Administration in Prague. Errors are counted in writing assignments of students who reach level A2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Errors are considered with respect to training exercises. The results show that training exercises decreased the number of errors positively in case of sentences with indirect word order and in compound and complex sentences.
