Thermal baths Yverdon, five senses in architecture
Štukheil, Petr ; Uřídilová, Marcela (referee) ; Koleček, Ivan (advisor)
Concept In the measure of town Yverdon Les Bains the baths park is understood like one of the important spot which influences its surroundings. The surroundings give the impression of neutrality because of the differentness of its composition. So the baths park and three historical buildings in it create the most valuable element. It is independent world where people could relax and feel their senses. Free shape in the “free landscape”. It is seemingly haphazard like its surroundings. Although the building has its own inner composition which I call “Small world under large rooftop”. I would like to create atmosphere where would be unique inner space, light and intimate darkness, warm and cold, atmosphere full of nice smell. Each material has its own sound, temperature and surface. The basic element of the baths is water. It is going through the building, connecting all the parts of the baths and creates special atmosphere. People have to know they entered in to the baths world.
LAUSANNE – PLAINES DU LOUP: sustainable city development
Menšík, Daniel ; Štukheil, Petr (referee) ; Koleček, Ivan (advisor)
The city is inherently ecological in the sense that it accumulates energy which is not lost during long-distance transmission. I mean energy in the broadest sense of the word. So the question is: How to make the urban environment such that a good life can be lived in, and the desire for a family house in the suburb was over. In this context, I understand ecology as a way of being, a relationship to a place, to work, to the built environment, quality and care.

LABORARTORY BRNO
Štukheil, Petr ; Drápal, Jaroslav (referee) ; Makovský, Zdeněk (advisor)
The gallery of modern art, design and architecture is situated on Koliště and Milady Horákové corner in Brno. The concept is influenced by busy surroundings and peaceful silhouette of the city. The composition of the gallery is based on two simple blocks. One of them is concrete; the second – soaring part is paneled by corten. This is the contrast between administrative and exhibition part of the gallery. The building visually encloses the Kapitána Jaroše Boulevard. Multifunctional exhibition space is designed for many kinds of exposition. The most impressive element of the main exhibition hall is a beautiful view of the historical centre of Brno. There is upper day lighting in main hall. The other halls are artificially lighted or totally darkling during some multimedia exposition. White face concrete is the prevailing material in the interior of the gallery just like a reinforced concrete structure is the main structure of the building.
LAUSANNE – PLAINES DU LOUP: sustainable city development
Zádrapová, Lucie ; Štukheil, Petr (referee) ; Koleček, Ivan (advisor)
The project focuses on the design of a residential city block, elementary school and a park in the street Plaines-du-Loup in the Switzerland city of Lausanne. The goal of the work is both to create a complex urbanistic concept and architectonical solution of a part of city block - elementary school connected to an apartment building. The urbanistic concept builds upon an already completed urbanistic study by the Tribu architects1. It aims to create a polyfunctional and diverse city environment with a richness of space. The project continues with a partial architectonic solution of an elementary school building interconnected with residential buildings. It seeks a solution to the relationship between school and living / school and public space.
Underground culture – adaptation of an old brewery in Litovel
Dohnal, Jakub ; Štukheil, Petr (referee) ; Koleček, Ivan (advisor)
Wonders happen behind the wall. The townspeople and people from the surrounding area are curious, so they head out to see what‘s really going on there. They literally find themselves in a new world. Culture flourishes, crafts are revived, stories of books are told and people eager for knowledge are taught. But the big news is that the city‘s beer quenches the thirst of almost every passerby. In addition, a remarkable path passes through the place along the water and trees. Whether one travels there on foot or by bicycle, one sees a wide courtyard with houses that brings a new spirit to Litovel. The site is located on the northern edge of the historic core of Litovel between the remains of the medieval wall and the watercourse of the Dušní Morava. The complex of buildings with a courtyard extends towards the water into B Street. Němcová and closes with its back to the town centre. The individual buildings were built in different time periods, but the most worthy part is the preserved historical cellars of the former municipal brewery. The city currently has no direct use for the area, so we are coming up with ideas and plans for preserving and upgrading the neglected buildings and the entire surrounding area. The starting point for the adaptation proposal is primarily the historical legacy of the local Litovel beer and the local socio-cultural situation. The aim of the work is the transformation of the current situation into a modern centre of culture, art and education. Strengthening the social life with new attractive opportunities for the residents and visitors of Litovel.
