Impact of Different Lawn Maintenance on Terrestrial Invertebrate Biodiversity
Klán, Jan ; Říhová, Dagmar (advisor) ; Škodová, Jana (referee)
This paper focuses on differences in the composition of invertebrate communities in grasslands with different management of green space management. It was carried out on four research plots with different management types (no-till, regular treatment with a power mower, treatment with a scythe, treatment with grazing). The main objective of the work is to demonstrate, using a sample of captured spiders, centipedes, millipedes, earwigs, and leafhoppers, which form of grassland habitat management is the most appropriate in terms of biodiversity richness. Other sub-objectives were to obtain local data on the variability of soil moisture in the study plots, air humidity and temperature. These values will illustrate an idea of the habitat of the captured animals. In terms of biodiversity, the grazed habitat proved to be the richest (a total of 84 species captured). This was followed by the no-mow habitat (83 species), mowed (76) and finally mowed with a mower (74). Mowed habitat was the poorest. In all habitats, the highest number of spider species was always captured, followed by crickets, and an order of magnitude fewer millipedes, centipedes, millipedes, and starlings were captured. One species of chrysalis was captured, which is listed on the Red List of Threatened Species of the Czech Republic. This...
The Outdoor Escape Game in Biology Teaching for the 6th Grade of Elementary School
Ševčíková, Kateřina ; Říhová, Dagmar (advisor) ; Škodová, Jana (referee)
The topic of the diploma thesis is an outdoor escape game and the possibility of its inclusion in the teaching of Biology in the sixth grade of elementary school. The work is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The aim of the theoretical part is to describe the elements and process of the classic escape game, outdoor escape game and its use in education. The thesis approaches the history of escape games, geocaching and the educational trail, including elements used in outdoor escape games. The thesis provides an overview of basic ciphers that can be used in escape games. The goal of the practical part is to create my own digital outdoor escape game using the Glitr application, which will be tested in practice. The game aims to revise and expand the knowledge gained in Biology lessons and to develop key competences. The practical part describes individual elements of the application, their possible use and the process of creating outdoor escape games. The theme of the game is insects with a connection to the history of the city of Klecany. It also includes a description of the individual locations and tasks used in the game. The outdoor escape game was tested on three classes of the sixth grade of local elementary school. An analysis of the collected data was carried out, namely the...
Synanthropic Animals and Their Use in High School Teaching
Hušková, Kateřina ; Říhová, Dagmar (advisor) ; Škodová, Jana (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with synanthropic animals occurring in the home and school environment in the summer and autumn months and their use in teaching. It is divided in two main parts. The first half of the work describes in details already discovered synanthropic animal species during summer (June, July 2021) and autumn (October, November 2021) collecting in the buildings of Grammar school Teplice in the centre of Teplice, also in a family house and it's surroundings in the suburbs of Teplice. The overall results of the survey of both places showed a number of identical animals (eg Tegenaria domestica, Steatoda grossa or Musca domestica). The discovery of Scutigera coleoptrata and a large amount of Cheiracanthium mildei in the family house became a surprise. On the contrary, the occurrence of Columba livia on the school grounds and Pholcus phalangioides directly inside the school was expected. The second part of the diploma thesis describes and evaluates the results of tested students in the Teplice Grammar School. The testing served to find out students' knowledge of the topic of synanthropic animals. The results showed only partial knowledge of the topic, which needs to be further improved and developed by the students. Based on the results of testing, a six-hour seminar (divided into three...
Periodic Water Bodies and Their Biota.
Bušová, Tereza ; Říhová, Dagmar (advisor) ; Škodová, Jana (referee)
This thesis is focused on a description of small periodic water bodies and their biota. These telms are formed as a result of heavy spring rains, floods, melting snow or the ground water level rising. They are formed on green parts, non-green parts or fallen parts of a plant (in that case they are called phytotelmes), in water-filled tree-holes (dendrotelmes), in fissures of rocks (lithotelms) or in various cavities, artificially created by human - in empty jars, water- filled tires, flower-holding vases in cemeteries etc. The thesis deals mainly with dendrotelmes and phytotelmes which are the most frequent, especially in tropics. It provides the information about their formation and animals that lives in these small habitats. Also, a taxonomical review of the main reported fauna was added for better orientation of the reader. The most common taxa which occur in temporary pools are families of mosquitoes (Culicidae), chironomids (Chironomidae) and ceratopogonids (Ceratopogonidae). There are also present other Dipteran larvae or larvae of scirtid beetles from the family Helodidae. Some of the animals living in the pools used different evolution strategies to be well adapted to deal with periodicity and drying out of the water bodies. Their overview is also included in this thesis. Furthermore,...

The Life in the Soil: Practical Exercise for Elementary School
Müllerová, Romana ; Říhová, Dagmar (advisor) ; Škodová, Jana (referee)
My thesis's topic is life in the soil. This thesis discusses soil itself and organisms that live in it. At the same time it describes an implementation of the topic Soil in schooling into an educational program in a specific primary school. The theoretical part contains eight basic areas - soil formation, its characteristics, soil types, functions, soil degradation and protection, soil nutrients, methods of studying soil fauna and, last but not least, topic of soil in general education schedule for primary schooling and school edaucation schedule of a specific primary school. Empirical part of the work contains an analysis of the natural history textbooks on the topic of soil and a description of teaching material which was used during lessons at the Primary School Bystřice. The aim of the work was to verify the functionality of the resulting teaching materials which were evaluated in post and pre-tests. Both tests were first evaluated separately and then compared together. The resulsts were very similar. In th both of class was the same number of students were get better or get worse. The class 9.B had better point evaluation. KEYWORDS soil, soil fauna, soil practicals, analysis of textbooks, teaching materials
