The importance of woodlots and their ecological characteristics for birds in an intensively managed agricultural landscape
Rajmonová, Lenka ; Reif, Jiří (advisor) ; Šálek, Martin (referee)
Various types of woody vegetation are a key biodiversity refugee in intensively managed agricultural landscapes. However, the role of woodlots, representing an important type of such a vegetation, remains overlooked so far. Whereas the previous studies focused on the effect of their area, shape and isolation, consequences of variation in their habitat quality for biodiversity were not assessed up to now. This thesis is thus one of the first studies focusing on woodlots as a specific habitat for birds in agricultural landscape. My goals were: (I) to find out what is the bird community composition of woodlots in a Czech landscape, (II) to find out, what are the key habitat predictors of bird species richness and abundance in woodlots, (III) to describe differences in habitat preferences among various guilds and (IV) to formulate recommendations for conservational practice. I surveyed birds in 82 woodlots in an intensively managed landscape in Central Bohemia, Czechia, and measured variables describing woodlots' habitat quality together with woodlots' area, shape, isolation and types of surrounding land-use. I recorded numerous forest and non-forest bird species (57 in total), including some endangered farmland birds. The habitat variables showing significant relationships to bird community...
Effect of synurbanization on bird populations
Zeman, Vít ; Lučan, Radek (advisor) ; Šálek, Martin (referee)
Currently we can observe the expansion of human environment to the countryside all around the world. As the needs of man for space grow, so do the cities and urban environments expand. Ever more types of organisms are adapting to this environment, which allows us to record the changes that appear, either on the population or on the individual level. This Bachelor thesis is trying to summarize the existing knowledge of the effect of urbanization, and related synurbanization, on popualtions of birds, in the form of a literary research. This being an extensive topic, the thesis is focused on specific details, concerning primarily differences in population density, nesting success, condition of the birds, and predation pressure in urban and natural communities. Scaling spatial activity, body size and diet in bats (Chiroptera)
Křemenová, Jana ; Lučan, Radek (advisor) ; Šálek, Martin (referee)
In my bachelor thesis I have summarized the literature on the spatial scale activities for mammals in relation to body size and trophic level of the individual. I also outlined the impact of other environmental and behavioral factors. Finally, I conducted a brief comparison of the influences acting on the size of the home range in birds and mammals.

In the second, the practical part, there is introduced company X, the structure of its employees and the system of recruitment and selection of employees, which is established in the company. The system is at this place analyzed and compared with the generally accepted theoretical principles. With the questionnaire survey there is also examined satisfaction of employees with the company's process of recruitment and selection of staff. In conclusion of the thesis, the system of recruitment and selection of employees is appraised and there are highlighted its strengths and proposed measures for its improvement.
