Automatic Topic Detection, Segmentation and Visualization of On-Line Courses
Řídký, Josef ; Beran, Vítězslav (referee) ; Szőke, Igor (advisor)
The aim of this work is to create a web application for automatic topic detection and segmentation of on-line courses. During playback of processed records, the application should be able to offer records from thematically consistent on-line courses. This document contains problem description, list of used instruments, description of implementation, the principle of operation and description of final user interface.
Interactive Web Editor of Slides and Video Synchronization
Řídký, Josef ; Beran, Vítězslav (referee) ; Szőke, Igor (advisor)
The aim of this work is to create interactive web application which can be used to synchronize slides used during the presentation with video recording from the presentation itself. This document contains a description of the problem, analysis of implementation tools which are necessary for application development, implementation description, a list of functional skills of application, user interface description, the method and the results of testing and comparing the resulting application with the previously used tool for synchronization created by Bc. Zdeněk Coufal.
Style and History: Literarity of Language and its Impact on Historical Temporality
Řídký, Josef ; Bílek, Petr (advisor) ; Růžička, Jiří (referee) ; Krásová, Eva (referee)
The goal of this work is to offer a new approach towards a literary reading of history without subordinating it to the realm of fiction, the troubling solution previous narrativist approaches resorted to. Instead, this work conceives of historical writing as a genre of its own, intertwining both explanation and narration and thus creating a distinctive aesthetic horizon or effect of reading that enriches our perception of the past. The work develops this rhetoric of history in three subsequent steps, elaborated in three different parts. The first introduces the oeuvre of Paul Ricoeur, namely his Time and Narrative, which allows us to define historical discourse as a narrative genre that represents traces of the past and, via the tools of quasi-intrigue, refigures them into the temporal categories of narrative identity and historical consciousness. As it turns out, historiography is a genre prone to represent historical time, which is the main reason why it must both narrate and explicate. The second part puts this theoretical model into practice to prove that it can be used as a method of reading historiographic texts. To demonstrate its viability, a wide variety of texts is interpreted: a postmodern historiography, positivistic texts, a big scale history, microhistories. The third part confronts...
Gender, identity, body
Řídký, Josef ; Tinková, Daniela (advisor) ; Činátl, Kamil (referee)
The thesis Gender, identity, body attempts to set out a method suitable for historical description and analysis of representations of bodily identities, such as old age, childhood, race etc. The conceptualization of gender identities presents our starting point, the very capacity of the term of gender is examined through the reading of the works of Joan W. Scott and Judith Butler. In respect to our final purpose, the term appears convenient only partially, for it balances between two extremes: it is either overly dependent on gender binarism or it utterly ceases to represent bodily identities. This paper brings an alternative concept: corpus. Combining the concept of gender and the phenomenology of body, it conceives bodily identity as a type of Paul Ricoeur's narrative identity. Composing different bodily parts and behaviour stereotypes, this kind of identity creates a distinctive collective identity: corpus. In its next part, the thesis follows the construction of representations of old age and adolescence in the field of Czechoslovakian 20th century developmental psychology. It appears that both old age and youth are disqualified in the name of a symbolic adult-centrism. Keywords: gender studies - identity - phenomenology of body - marginal groups in the 20th century
