European Union's Food Safety Policy and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA)

This thesis deals with the current food safety policy at the level of the European Union. The first and second parts describe origin of food law and european legal regulations in the field of food safety, the major part of this bachelor thesis is focused on food hygiene and food labeling. I deal with actual cases related to food safety, such as case of methanol (September 2012) or junk food imports from Poland to the Czech Republic. Next section is focused on the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) and their activity. The last chapter characterizes food safety in the Czech Republic.

Legal protection of civil aviation

This thesis deals with aviation law. The aim was to bring the most significant changes that have occurred in the Czech national air law as a result of the Czech Republic accession to the European Union. The work is divided into five chapters. The first chapter provides general information about the air transport, its history, sources and principles of aviation law. Then are mentioned basic forms of legislative regulation of air transport-international contract and international aviation agreement. Following section contains a list of the most important international organizations in the field of air transport. The fourth chapter deals with the legal status of passengers, emphasis is placed on their rights and obligations during air transport. This section also contains legislative adjustments of transport of luggage and distinguishing between the three basic types of travel classes. In the final chapter is characterized the European Aviation Law, its main objectives, mentioning the EU cooperation with third countries in the field of air transport. The conclusion is devoted to the EU's approach to the protection of passengers and its comparison with the approach of Czech Airlines.

Restructuring overseas company under the English law

This bachelor thesis deals with the options of solving restructuring overseas companies under the English law. The emphasis is put on the individual decisions, which were released by the courts. In addition, the work introduce to the target reader, a provisions, which were a backbone for judicial decisions. The aim of the bachelor thesis is to familiarize the reader with the various court decisions and the conditions under which it is possible to restructure companies under English law. With regard to the issue the work is purely theoretical.

Rights of Shareholders in the Joint-stock Company

Bachelor thesis deals with the rights of shareholders in the joint-stock company in the current and future legislation, effective from 1. 1. 2014. The rights are divided into 4 groups. The first group of the rights focuses on the rights connected with the shareholders position in the company and with demands for information, which are in connection with participating in the management of the company. Other sections deal with rights that are closely related to the participation in the general meeting and entitled to a share on liquidation and profit. The work also deals with the rights of minority shareholders, who have in the company a specific position and rights. The paper uses the business and a new civil code and the law on trade corporations.

Institute of inheritance law in the Czech Republic

This bachelor thesis deals with the inheritance law governing transfer of deceased's ownership rights and obligations to his legal successors. There are desribed rights variations of individual groups of inheritors with focus on inheritance legislation of persons without matrimony. The subject of this thesis is also inheritance proceedings, inheritance refusal, inheritance disability or disinheritance, including example of both local proceedings and Czech Supreme Court jurisprudence.

Selected Issues of Public Licenses The aim of this master thesis is to present certain issues which are connected with free and open source software public licenses, analyze them and provide sufficient solutions. The main reason for choosing the topic was a lack of czech literature in a forementioned area despite of growing importance of open source software industry. The thesis is composed of seven chapters (apart from the introduction). The first chapter characterises basic frame of computer programs protection by means of copy- right (or droit d'auteur more precisely) in the Czech Republic. Chapter two defines the public license and attempts to evaluate its legal enforceability. Several examples of public licenses are analyzed and the ideas behind free and open source software movement are presented. The proprietary license is mentioned as opposite to public license. The third chapter focuses on open source software development and its questionable aspects. It deals with a problem of author plurality in a first part of the chapter. The second part looks at an international element in open source development and provides rules for determination of the governing law that should apply to licenses and other legal relations. Patent protection for medicaments and its topical issues

Resume - Patent protection of pharmaceuticals and its current problems The pharmaceutical industry nowadays plays a major role in the world's economy, having an estimated total volume of USD 740 billion and being one of the recognized key innovation sectors. The system of patent law is of major significance to the industry in that the monopoly it confers, for a limited period of time, on using innovations provides a major incentive for innovative research activities that the industry is involved in. Although the availability of patent protection for chemical and pharmaceutical products has, from a historical perspective, only been reaffirmed in the near past, it has nowadays been accepted as a global standard mainly through the provisions of the WTO's TRIPS agreement. Despite the existence of various international treaties harmonizing patent laws, patents have to date in their effects remained strictly limited to individual jurisdictions. Global Environmental Agreements and Their Effectiveness

This diploma thesis deals with global environmental agreements and their effectiveness. Its aim is to disclose the causes of success of some agreements and, on the contrary, the motives of failure of other agreements. In the theoretical part, the specialities of the environmental problems are illustrated, followed by the introduction to the international environmental law and agreements. In the practical part, two well-known international agreements concerned with atmosphere are compared. They deal with similar problem, but they achieved very different results. The objective of step-by-step comparison of diverse aspects of both agreements is to discover what factors caused the great success of the Montreal Protocol in protecting the ozone layer and why the similarly conceived Kyoto Protocol failed in the combat against climate change. Last chapter concludes this comparison and defines key characteristics which are essential for the effectiveness of the global environmental agreements.

Crimes relatring to the abuse of addictive substances

Crime Related to Substance Abuse The topic of my thesis is Crime Related to Substance Abuse which is focused on drug- related crime. The main aim of this work is to explain drug problematic in penal law consequences to the reader. First Chapter introduces the reader to drug problematic and drug addiction issue including drug crimes, defining health, social, psychological and economic risks and dangers which may be caused by drugs. The drug crimes are divided into few basic categories because of different rational motives why those crimes are committed. Then, several essential terms connected to drug abuse are explained. Second Chapter deals with classifying drugs into several categories and analyzing their different characteristics. Third Chapter concerns with international cooperation, including its history and current international law treaty's on drugs passed within the United Nations. Three essentials applicable and effective treaties are following: Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs (1961), Convention on Psychotropic Substances (1971) and United Nations Convention against Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (1988). Comparison of women's rights in the USA and the Czech Republic

The Master's Thesis deals with women's rights in the Czech Republic and in the United States of America. The aim of the study is to compare women's rights and opportunities in education, labour market and family life. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the role of women in society in terms of education, voting rights and employment on labour market. Special attention is focused on family law, mainly on benefits for mothers in different life situations. The practical part of the thesis consists of two parts, a primary empirical research in the form of individual personal interviews and an interpretation of secondary statistical data. In the end of the thesis there is a comparison of both countries based on the theoretical information and the results of the empirical research.
