Poetry of Jaroslav Kvapil in the 1880s and 1890s

This bachelor's thesis mainly focuses on the poetry of Jaroslav Kvapil in the last decades of the 19th century. The first part briefly introduces the personality of Jaroslav Kvapil; the chapter contains information about the author's life and his poetic beginnings, Kvapil's dramatic activity is also briefly mentioned. In addition, the introductory part includes the outlining of the temporars context of the turn of the 1880s and 1890s, which serves as a reference for the following analysis of individual collections of poems; in connection with the contemporary context, the issues of so-called predecadence are also discussed. In the major part of the thesis the collections of poems are chronologically analyzed, attention is paid mainly to the main motives and the choices of the topics; in the individual characteristics of the collections of poems we take into account the contemporary context, the issues of so-called predecadence and the influence of poetics of Jaroslav Vrchlický; each analysis is further suplemented by crtitical responses.
