Effect of middle management in nursing quality of nursing care
FLANDEROVÁ, Hana
The subject of this thesis is called ?The influence of the middle nursing management on the nursing care quality?. The theoretical part focuses on head nurses, their preferred characteristics, skills, competencies, leadership styles and the way of implementing changes. The component of the theoretical part is also a description of the nursing care quality, and some ways how to achieve it. The practical part focuses on the influence of head nurses on the nursing care quality. For the processing the thesis has been used the combination of both qualitative and quantitative surveys. Our inquiry was conducted in the South-Bohemian hospitals and head nurses were the respondents. During the questioning survey and interviews we have managed to achieve all our pre-defined targets. Through the interviews we have managed to answer all given research questions. We found that all interviewed head nurses have the professional knowledge of the nursing management field. We identified ways of implementing changes to enhance the nursing care quality in practice. The head nurses stated, that nurses accept these changes after a presentation of professional arguments, and that the head nurses are led and supported during the introduction of the changes by top management. The head nurses, interviewed by us, believe that the adoption of changes to enhance the nursing care quality will help to increase the prestige of nursing and support the independence of this field. Based on the evaluation results of the survey we have identified the reluctance of nurses to learn new things as the most common problem in the implementation of changes.

NOVÁKOVÁ, Tereza
To enable the nurse at least to perform her profession at a standard level, she needs not only material equipment, but also most of all the moral support of her superiors. Sufficient knowledge and experience are important for that profession as well. Another important aspect is to be able to see the meaningful tasks of her work and to have a feeling of certainty. My work has got three targets, which are: Target 1: To show, how the nurses of the middle management motivate their juniors to make them work more efficiently. Target 2: To analyze experience of middle management nurses with a team management. Target 3: To show whether, and in which way the nurses in the middle management motivate their juniors to increase their professional competence. I have used a qualitative research method for my study. A technique of an in-depth discussion was used for the collection of data. The research group contained 14 nurses in chief positions. The statements of individual nurses were categorized. They were divided into six basic groups, which are: Motivation factors, de-motivation factors, composition of the working team, work in a team, education and registration.

The employment of medical assistants in acute nursing care
JIRÁKOVÁ, Marcela
The thesis is aimed at to what extent nursing assistants are used for providing acute nursing care and whether nursing assistants are interested in providing nursing care, and, in addition, it focuses on what the attitude of the management to employ nursing assistants is. Moreover, it deals with the historical development of the nursing education until today and with the impact on education of non-medical staff after the Czech Republic joined the European Union. It deals with legislation and decrees in force laying down conditions of work of non-medical staff {--} defining professions and their members, defining the scope of work (primary, secondary, tertiary care), defining requirements for obtaining a certificate of professional competence, defining lifelong learning, defining job competences etc. The aim of the bachelor thesis was to find out how much the services of nursing assistants are used in acute nursing care and whether they are interested in working in this area. The instrument for gaining these targets was the quantitative method in a form of a questionnaire intended for the pupils in the 4th grade at the Medical Secondary Schools in České Budějovice and Český Krumlov, specialization Nursing Assistant, and then the qualitative method in a form of a semi-standardized interview conducted with the middle and low management, in particular ward sisters and nursing officers on wards with acute beds. The questionnaire responses were plotted in graphs using descriptive statistics, interviews were summarized in a paper and synoptic charts. The results ascertained were described and evaluated in terms of disproving or proving the hypothesis and in terms of findings based on the questions raised in the final discussion.

Intergenerational views and stances on care for seniors in family
HADRAVOVÁ, Barbora
Social and home care services are influenced by demographic changes of highly developed society conjoined with aging of the society. As the accommodation capacity of social services is limited, home care from the family members becomes more important. The aim of this thesis is to find out what are the differences in the opinions of young, middle and pre-senior population on senior care in a family. It is based on available books and internet sources dealing with the problem of old age and aging, home care and field services that can be used as support to senior home care. The theoretical part is divided into eight chapters. The first one is focused on social changes and important changes in the social roles. This chapter also describes existing myths and their devaluating influence on seniors. The following chapter aims at psychological changes in the old age, changes in perception and behaviour of the elderly. The third chapter is dealt with the higher need for faith in the old age rising out of the loss of different competences, as a response to stress and losses and in connection with the knowledge of nearness of ones death. The thesis is also focused on the state of health of the elderly. It describes physiological changes connected to the chronological age and the most common illnesses connected to higher age. Psychiatric illnesses often diagnosed in the old age are especially taken into consideration. The next chapters of the theoretical part are focused on two aspects which are tabooed by the present society ? dying and death. The thesis also describes home care for a dying person compared to the institutional one. Demographical changes in the Czech Republic are described in the next chapter. This necessarily requires considering all health and social consequences. The European Union created for this reason the Action Plan for Healthy and Worthy Ageing that could improve health and social area in future. The following chapter deals with the family of a senior representing his background and security. In case the senior is limited in his self-sufficiency, his family attends to his physical, psychical and material needs. It is the decision of a family whether to care for a senior or not in this case. But this decision is highly influenced by the pressure of the society and its demand for altruistic help opposed to its demands for career, personal growth and the developments of an individual. The last chapter of the theoretical part is aimed at home care services. Those services provide the seniors with lower self-sufficiency with help for they could stay in their homes instead of moving into the institutional facilities. Home care can be supported by different services ? nursing care, home assistance, home medical care and home hospice care. The practical part of the thesis is based on qualitative research using semi-structured interview method. The choice of the respondents was based on their economic and family status. The aim of the research was to find the differences in the opinions of different generations on the senior care in their homes done by the family members. It was proved that all respondents consider home care optimal with regard to the needs of a senior. A senior does not need to be embarrassed in his home, his privacy is not infringed and is surrounded by people he knows or is in close association to them.
