Gravity model estimation using panel data - is logarithmic transformation advisable?
Bobková, Božena ; Benáček, Vladimír (advisor) ; Baruník, Jozef (referee)
This thesis investigates the question if the estimation of gravity model of in- ternational trade based on the logarithmic transformation of the model is ad- visable when panel data are employed for the estimation. We have derived theoretically that in the presence of heteroskedasticity the logarithmic trans- formation causes inconsistency of the estimated coefficients. According to the literature, we have recommended rather the Poisson pseudo maximum likeli- hood estimation technique for the empirical research of the gravity model. We have also provided an empirical analysis of Czech and German panel data sets based on the comparison of the performance of traditional and Poisson estima- tion approaches. This analysis confirrms Poisson pseudo maximum likelihood estimation method as a more proper method for estimating the coefficients of the gravity equation.

Magnetic nanostructures with application potential
Bittová, Barbara ; Holý, Václav (referee) ; Kalbáčová Vejpravová, Jana (advisor)
The thesis is mainly focused on the investigation of macroscopic and microscopic magnetic properties of selected nanomaterials containing cobalt and iron, and also the capability of our new device, scanning probe microscope Multimode V by Veeco, to directly visualise morphology and magnetic structure of these samples (Magnetic Force Miscroscopy, MFM). Investigated materials, such as CoFe2O4 nanoparticles and SiO2_Co_Si(111) thin films and multilayers are in general promising materials in many fields. In the medicine, the nanoparticles are used as the drug targets or contrast agents whereas in electronics, the (nano)granular thin films are the starting point in fabrication of high density storage media. The macroscopic magnetic properties of our samples are discusses in a view of superparamagnetic phenomena. The interactions in systems of nanoparticles are presented theoretically within the up-to date knowledge and also experimentally by demonstrating the behavior of the strongly-interacting, uper-spin-glass system. The thin films are studied in term of their granular structure and magnetic anisotropy. The morphology and the microscopic domain structure, respectively, are studied with use of the MFM. The first successful results obtained in our lab by this method are presented.

The theory of nuclear physics for radiological assistants
ŠIMKOVÁ, Kamila
Currently there is not freely available any simple educational text on the subject of nuclear physics foundations, which would be adequate to the knowledge of students in the field of Radiology Assistant and other related fields. Study materials that are commonly used are mere transcripts of a scientific knowledge which needs to be adjusted by the presenter in order to be correctly understood by students within the stipulated time. The need for defining an educational version of a nuclear physics for Radiology Assistant resulted in preparation and submission of this thesis. During the process several objectives emerged: - create awaited, projected and implemented curriculum (create comprehensible educational text and verify its adequacy) on the subject of nuclear physics foundations for Radiology Assistant - verify the suitability of the project curriculum using the experimental teaching followed by subsequent verification with questionnaire survey - apply methods of descriptive statistics and mathematical statistics This thesis was based on two hypotheses verification. 1st hypothesis: By application of curricular process theory and developing appropriate educational text can be processed theoretical foundations of nuclear physics for Radiology Assistants. 2nd hypothesis: Knowledge of Radiology Assistants in the field of theoretical foundations of nuclear physics obtained from drawn up educational text will have distribution near to the normal distribution. Contribution of the thesis is the elaborated educational text and test that can be used for teaching theoretical foundations of nuclear physics. After evaluation of individual questions in the test, can be recommended to focus on students' knowledge in those areas where lower scores were achieved.

Art Education in Japan/School - ethnographic study
Výzkum byl veden kombinací metod pedagogicko-etnografických a kulturně- antropologických. Informace čerpal především z terénního výzkumu prováděného v Japonské škole v Praze a v některých školách v Japonsku v Ósace v letech 1986-2006. S postupující globalizací a asimilací kultur vyvstává potřeba "mezinárodní výchovy". Nutnost hledání základních postupů vedoucích k poznání a pochopení jiných kultur. Výchova k empatii vůči příslušníkům jiných národů a jejich specifickým projevům. I v tomto směru tato práce...

Characterization of plasma during organosilicone thin film deposition using haxamethyldisiloxane monomer
Blahová, Lucie ; Mazánková, Věra (referee) ; Krčma, František (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is plasma diagnostic during deposition of thin films based on organosilicones. Hexamethyldisiloxane was used as a precursor for plasma deposition in the presence of oxygen, and the diagnosis was performed by using optical emission spectroscopy. The theoretical part summarizes the basic characteristics of plasma and processes occurred at plasma polymerization and deposition. It also deals with thin films and their use in coating materials. A relatively large part is devoted to the specification of the physical-chemical nature of the used analytical method – optical emission spectroscopy. Finally, the principles of rotational, vibrational and electron temperature calculations are described. The contemporary deposition process was carried out in continuous and pulsed mode of radiofrequently excited capacitively coupled discharge. The effects of monomer flow rate, plasma power and duty cycle on the deposition process were studied. In the individual spectra, atomic hydrogen lines of Balmer’s series as well as an atomic oxygen line were identified. Molecular bands of CO have been identified as Angstrom’s system and 3. positive system. In the case of the identified fragments, the intensity dependencies on the monomer concentration in mixture, plasma power and duty cycle were detected. Electron temperature of plasma was also calculated using the relative intensities of atomic hydrogen lines of Balmer’s series. Vibrational and rotational temperature could not have been determined because no suitable fragments for their determination were found in the spectrum. Based on findings mentioned above, partial composition of plasma and some of its properties were estimated. The subject of the further research will be determination of the exact content and structure of the thin films and investigation of other plasma characteristics. Plasma deposition is influenced by many factors, and the study of their optimal combination for the most efficient deposition process is a goal for the future research.

Regulation of Weeds in Grown Hybrids of Maize
NAHODIL, Antonín
The degree work describes the biology and morphology of the weed plants, which are found in maize vegetation most frequently, as well as their spreading and possible regulation. Based on the findings acquired, the methods of chemical and mechanical regulation are described. The degree work describes briefly both the plant of maize itself and the process of its growing. The attempt took place on the school farm of the Agricultural School in Tábor; a small plot attempt was carried out at the same place. The frequency of the occurrence of weed species on the selected small plots was evaluated in the hybrids of maize (Zea mays). The degree work contains data on the extent of the occurrence of weeds on individual plots, on which the individual hybrids of maize were compared with one another. It also includes an economic evaluation and possible measures to eliminate the spreading of weeds.

Analysis and modification of thin layers using ion beams
Jonner, Jakub ; Lörinčík, Jan (referee) ; Bábor, Petr (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with analysis and modification of thin layers using ion beams. The first part of this diploma thesis deals with phenomena accompanying ion beam bombardment of solid matter. The second part of this diploma thesis is concerned with Secondary Ion Mass Spectroscopy (SIMS) and Low Energy Ion Scattering (LAIS). This work convey some basic information about these two techniques and it also deals with some benefits result in their connection into parallel depth profiling mode (such as better depth resolution of the LEIS profile, quantification of the SIMS). These benefits are demonstrated on MoSi film measurement. Within the framework of this thesis a new UHV manipulator was designed. This new UHV manipulator is equipped with precise stepper UHV motor and since the proportions are smaller, the manipulation with a sample in a space limited UHV chamber is much more comfortable and more precise. The third part of this diploma thesis deals with ion-beam induced transformation of epitaxially grown Fe films with thickness of 22 monolayer (ML) and 44 ML on Cu(100) single crystal at room temperature. Metastable Fe films of 22 ML thickness were prepared in CO pressure and 44 ML Fe films were prepared by co-evaporation of Fe with Fe64Ni36 (invar). Structural changes are analyzed by scanning tunneling microscopy and low-energy electron diffraction. The aim of this thesis is to discuss the influence of the sputtering parameters such as ion dose and ion energy on the nucleation of bcc nanocrystals, their growth, final shape and size. The influence of different Ni concentration on stability of 44 ML thick Fe films is also discussed.
