Prevention of Cervical Cancer
Kafková, Simona ; Šafář, Petr (advisor)
Cervical cancer is a disease characterized by an abnormal growth of cells in the uterine cervix. It is caused by an infection with a range of high risk oncogenic human papillomavirus (HPV) and it is now accepted that more that 99 % of the cervical cancer is initiated by the HPV infection. HPV is the most common sexually transmitted viral disease. Most of the HPV infections are only temporary and human organism can destroy the infection with its own immune response. A persistent infection can lead to the malign transformation and an uncontrolled cell proliferation. There are more than 10 years between an epithelial infection and cervical cancer. Prevention of cervical cancer includes an HPV protection, an early diagnosis and a treatment. In spite of the fact that there has been enormous progress in the area of the cervical cancer prevention when vaccination against the most common HPV types was discovered, an early precancerous diagnosis through the use of the full-area screening still remains an essential precaution. The screening still needs to be provided not only to unvaccinated women but also to the immunized ones because current vaccines protect only against 80% of the oncogenic HPV types. Because of the prolonged absence of clinical symptoms in precancerous stages, the cytodiagnosis is the only method...

Study of electrolytic influence on organic dye decomposition in the diaphragm discharge in liquids
Davidová, Jaroslava ; Rašková, Zuzana (referee) ; Kozáková, Zdenka (advisor)
This Bachelor thesis is focused on study of chemical and physical influences which are proceed in diaphragm discharge in water solution. These processes could be used in water treatment. If DC non-pulsed voltage is applied, a significant influence of electrolysis must be taken into account. The main goal of this thesis is the estimation of electrolytic contribution to processes in the discharge. Theoretical part describes basic theory about creation of electrical discharges in water and electrolysis with emphasis on processes leading to destruction of organic compounds. Production of reactive particles (radicals, hydrogen peroxide, ozone, etc.) and electrochemical reactions on electrodes mainly belongs among these processes. This part describes analytical method (UV-VIS spectroscopy) which was used for determination of organic dyes concentration as well. Experimental part is oriented to experiment procedure which was carried out in an apparatus with separated anode and cathode area. Separation was made by dielectric diaphragm with a pinhole in the centre. Its initial diameter was 0.25 mm. Electrolytic decomposition was carried out at constant current of 30 mA and supplied power was about 14–32 W. Two Saturn dyes (Direct Blue 106 and Direct Red 79) were selected for experiments. As the decomposition was related to decoloration of the solution, UV-VIS spectroscopy in the range of 350–700 nm was used for determination of dye concentration. Next part focused on results presents various factors which had remarkable effect on decomposition of organic dyes. These factors were: various polarities of electrodes, conductivity and pH of solution, applied power, kind of electrolyte and structure of organic dye. The electrolysis had the significant influence on decomposition of small organic molecules. Decomposition was running mainly in the anode area where so called negative discharge was created. Optimal conditions were set by NaCl electrolyte with concentration providing initial conductivity of 500 S·cm-1. By the NaNO3 electrolyte half decomposition efficiency was achieved and in Na3PO4 electrolyte, the decomposition even didn’t run. The decomposition in the anode area was stimulated by the low pH value, which was decreasing during electrolysis. Generally, higher decomposition was achieved by the discharge than by pure electrolysis but the electrolysis had higher efficiency. In pure electrolysis, high rate of removal can be achieved by the application of a relatively low power. When bigger organic molecules were decomposed, the efficiency was higher by applying the discharge.

Anaerobic digestion of sludge from pulp and fodder yeast production
Řezáč, Jaroslav ; Beňo, Zdeněk (referee) ; Pěček, Jan (advisor)
The thesis aims to identify suitable and in the locality available raw materials to a commnon fermentation with sludge from pulp and fodder yeast production in company Biocel Paskov a.s.. Introductory chapter briefly describes the mechanisms of penetration of the sludge itself. The following section deals with origin, chemical composition and properties of biogas. The factors affecting the production of biogas are described. A key part of this thesis is a performance of sludge fermentation test and selected mixed substrate. Acquired knowledge is evaluated and the optimum composition of input raw materials with regard to maximum, but also economic recovery of biogas selected. Further, on the basis of obtained data a rough draft of biogas station is done, icluding its energeic and economic balance.

Toxicomania
KOUBOVÁ, Lucie
This diploma thesis focuses on the issues connected with the toxicomania. In the theoretic part I focus on the basic terms and definitions of toxicomania. Then I orient on the origin and development of the most used narcotics from the time of their origin till the present. I also follow up the problems of each narcotic, how it influences the people´s behaviour and the risks coming out of the usage. Risks factors and reasons, which lead a person to try a narcotics are listed and I point out at the importance of prevention which should start really early. In case of the development of addiction I show the suitable ways of treatment. The theoretical part ends with the chapter of issues connected with illegal drugs, their usage and production and the punishements in the Czech and Slovak republic.

Diagnostics and therapy of spiritual emergency - orienting study
Janečková, Barbora ; Bahbouh, Radvan (advisor) ; Břicháček, Václav (referee) ; Hájek, Karel (referee)
The doctoral dissertation contains of a definition of spiritual emergency, differential diagnosis, description of kinds of spiritual emergency. It looks on the therapeutical possibilities in working with these states. Part of the dissertation is analysis of semistructured interviews with clients and therapists who work with these kinds of problems. In the analysis of the interviews with therapists I center on their experience with the dynamics of spiritual emergence, its manifestation and possible existence of similar traits of clients with this diagnosis. Important parts of the interviews are the most effective ways of working with these clients. I was also interested in their own perception on how spiritual emergence occurs and on the possible change in the quality of life of the client after this episode. In the analysis of the interviews with the clients I question when spiritual emergence occurred, how it started, how long did it last and what were the reactions from outside. Important part is centered on the interventions which the client experienced and their efficiency. Case studies demonstrate typical traits described at spiritual emergency, as quite dramatic beginning, complete recovery and also an important change in value system.

Synthesis and cytostatic activity of 3,5-disubstituted pentenolides analogous to gelastatin
Pavlík, Jan ; Pour, Milan (advisor) ; Starý, Ivo (referee) ; Dvořák, Dalimil (referee)
Within the framework of this thesis, a large series of 5-(acyloxymethyl)-3-aryl-5,6- dihydro-2H-pyran-2-ones was prepared and their cytostatic activity investigated. The key steps in the preparation of the compounds were alkylation of esters of substituted phenylacetic acids with 2-iodomethyl-5,5-dimethyl-1,3-dioxane, followed by cyclization to furnish a saturated lactone into which a double bond was introduced in the next step. Some of the target compounds displayed interesting cytostatic activity (IC50 < 10 µmol/L) against a panel of standard cell lines including both leukemic cells and those derived from solid tumours. The activity against colorectal carcinoma HT29 cell line, which is otherwise resistant against the standard combination of cytostatic agents used in the treatment of these tumours is especially remarkable. In the next part, the development of the synthesis of the 5-alkylidene analogues of these compounds, which are also analogous to bioactive natural products, such as the gelastatins and CR377, is described. Successful strategy is based on the use of 2-iodo allylic alcohols as the starting materials, which are converted into the target 3-substituted-5-alkylidene pentenolides via an array of Pd-catalyzed reactions, including Sonogashira coupling with methyl propiolate,...

The Role of Cross Border Projects in the Development of the Jesenicko Region
Rybářová, Hana ; Perlín, Radim (advisor) ; Szczyrba, Zdeněk (referee)
The Master thesis aims to analyse the role of cross border projects in the development of the Jesenicko region. The main research question is whether the cross border projects trigger the development of cross border networks of cooperation as well as whether the projects contribute to the socioeconomic development of the model region. The experience from well- established cross border regions in Western Europe indicates that overcoming "soft barriers" such as trust and prejudice among inhabitants from border areas is problematic but necessary for the overall integration of the region. Therefore, the situation along the Czech and Polish border is to be examined. Methodology of the thesis is framed by the inductive approach and is of an interpretative character. The main research method of the thesis is a multiple case study. The significant advantage of this method is that it allows analysing the collected data within the wider framework of region as well as its exploratory character helps to understand the factors determining the success of the projects. The analytical framework is based on the institutional theories of regional development as well as on the concepts of Czech Human Geography. Based on the findings, it is concluded that the cross border projects help to build the common trust in the studied...
