Alcohol addiction among the patients of the Psychiatric Clinic Červený Dvůr
PRAVEČKOVÁ, Michaela
My Bachelor's Thesis focuses on persons addicted to alcohol who are staying in Červený Dvůr Mental Hospital. The goal of the thesis was to find out the most frequent causes of addiction to alcohol in the Červený Dvůr clients and the impact of excessive alcohol consumption on their private life. In addition, the thesis tries to find out how the clients learned about Červený Dvůr Mental Hospital, what the reason for the consent with treatment was and what motivated the clients to undergo the treatment for addiction. The research was based on a qualitative method. The data were acquired using the method of semi-structured interviews and the sample consisted of 8 communication partners. The selection was intentional. For the data analysis, was used the method of patterns collection. The main research question dealt with the issue whether the clients in Červený Dvůr Mental Hospital are aware of the negative effect of alcohol. A partial research question was to find the answer to the question in which situations the clients became aware of the negative effect of alcohol. In addition, what were the main causes of excessive consumption of alcohol in the clients and what is their motivation to undergo the treatment for addiction. Nearly all respondents were aware of the negative effect of alcohol, specifically in relation to their family troubles. The most common consequence of alcoholism was divorce. The clients became aware of the negative influence of alcohol in the case of loss of friends or job. The most frequently occurring cause of addiction in these clients was an unidentifiable craving for a change, which they themselves are not able to explain. At the same time, for more than a half of the respondents the main motivation to undergo the treatment was their wish to live "properly" as they had lived before their addiction developed. These people wish to find the sense of their lives and their vision is that they will be able to function in everyday life as the others are. Another finding resulting from the research was that in the case of all respondents somebody from among their family members was addicted to alcohol as well. More specific results are provided in the practical part of the thesis. The Bachelor's Thesis could be beneficial for both non-specialists and specialists. It could be motivating for people who are addicted to alcohol and are afraid of seeking assistance. The thesis may be used for instructional purposes or for the creation of programmes aimed at better awareness and prevention in the area of addiction to alcohol.

Flodrová, Dana ; Toporová, L. ; Macejová, D. ; Laštovičková, Markéta ; Brtko, J. ; Bobálová, Janette
Bottom-up proteomic approach was used for detailed characterization of proteins from\ntwo human tumour cell lines representing major clinically different types of breast\ncancer. The aim was to show the differences between them on proteomic level. Here\nwe present almost 100 unequivocally identified proteins out of which 60 were mutually\ndifferently expressed for MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7. Some well-known breast cancer\nmarkers like annexins A1, A2 and vimentin were found in the MDA-MB-231 cell line.\nOn the other hand, MCF-7 cells were found to be positive for cytokeratins and keratins\nand thus we were able to distinguish both cell lines sufficiently.

Enhancement of HSS tools cutting performance with PVD coatings
Medek, Martin ; Sliwková, Petra (referee) ; Píška, Miroslav (advisor)
Diploma work describes speed drill steels and its qualities before and after coating by methods PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition). The theoretic part is concerned with thermic processing of speed drill steels and their qualities with regard to individual alloying elements contained and its mechanical features. Second part of the theoretic part is concerned with particular methods of coating by the help of PVD technologies, kinds of coating with regard to additional elements and their qualities and surface treatments of coated material before and after its coating. The goal of the experimental part was the confrontation of cutting power features of cylindrical four-fluted face mills with straight shank, from speed drill steels non-coated and coated in two basic modes of milling – down-feed method and upfeed method. The results of measurements were interpreted by the help of four basic pictures (source values, power analysis, specific values). The result of all the experiment is that the application of PVD coatings enabled the increasing of cutting speed (with preservation of other cutting requirements) and led to decreasing of cutting force and cutting enforcements and extended durability of cutters.

Effect of piracetam on advanced dementia with predominated cardiovascular symptoms
Kovtun, Vladimír ; Ďoubal, Stanislav (advisor) ; Zadák, Zdeněk (referee) ; Mrňa, Boris (referee)
From 2001 to 2004 a retrospective non-invasive clinical trial on the effects off Piracetam was carried out in the nursing home in Česká Kamenice. The effect of Piracetam was observed on 150 patients aged 84,29 ( +- 3,5 years ) who suffered from an advanced form of vascular dementia. The patients were diagnosed in accordance with all currently valid criteria. At the time of the clinical trial the patients had been suffering from the disease for more than 6 months. A placebo was administered to the reference group composed of patients suffering from the same disease. The clinical trial lasted for a period of 12 months . The treatment with Piracetam did not demonstrate any positive effects which would be statistically substantial. This is probably due to an increased number of advanced forms of dementia syndrome with an irreversible loss of the brain's ability to compensate. For the above mentioned reasons an early diagnosis of demetia is of high importance because of a possibility to positively influence the disease. We assume that it is a task of an immense significance which goes beyond the boarders of the Czech Republic. Also, it raises the importance of geriatrics and gerontopharmacy on the societal ladder. Obviously, it is necessary to conduct further and much more extensive studies, which would...

At the end there are defined relevant relationship betweendata and analytical methods.

Nonverbal factors in psychotherapy of adolescents
Vraná, Klára ; Morávková Krejčová, Lenka (referee) ; Šturma, Jaroslav (advisor)
The thesis deals with one of the areas of children's psychology - psychotherapy of adolescents. The study mainly focuses on different non-verbal moments, or factors, occurring at psychotherapeutic sessions held with adolescent patients, and it outlines the possibilities of application of these factors in the psychotherapeutic process. The objective of the thesis is to show that sometimes seemingly insignificant non-verbal moments may play an important role, especially in therapeutic work with adolescents, and therefore therapists should pay increased attention to these symptoms. This also applies in case that a patient was originally indicated a psychotherapy, the main medical treatment medium of which is predominately an interview (for example a family therapy). The thesis is based on one of the assumptions that in general non-verbal methods, in this case at least some of their elements, may work as facilitators of an interview, for example if the patient fails to express certain personal experience of his or her, his/her feeling or emotion with the help of words, or when a therapist fails to enter into verbal communication with the patient.

Do Consumers Really Follow a Rule of Thumb? Three Thousand Estimates from 130 Studies Say “Probably Not”
Havránek, Tomáš ; Sokolova, Anna
We show that three factors combine to explain the mean excess sensitivity reported in studies estimating consumption Euler equations: the use of macro data, publication bias, and liquidity constraints. When micro data are used, publication bias is corrected for, and the households under examination do not face liquidity constraints, the literature implies no evidence for the excess sensitivity of consumption to income. Hence little remains for pure rule-of-thumb behavior. The results hold when we control for 45 additional variables reflecting the methods employed by researchers and use Bayesian model averaging to account for model uncertainty. The estimates of excess sensitivity are also systematically affected by the order of approximation of the Euler equation, the treatment of non-separability between consumption and leisure, and the choice of proxy for consumption.
