Manufacture of bells

The bachelor thesis titled „Manufacture of bells” contains basic information about the historical development of bells, acoustic characteristics of the bells and particular processes accompanying their production. There are in detail particular phases of production and necessary equipment described in this work. The text also deals with the materials that are used for bells manufacturing. The analysis of the bell metal is the most discussed issue in this part, since it is the best and most widely used material for these purposes.
Casting technology in bell founding

The topic of the bachelor’s thesis, which comprises of theoretical and practical part, is campanology. The purpose was to summarize the technology of the bells’ manufacture from both, current and historical viewpoints. Basis of the theoretical part is literary recherche which describes the whole process of the bell’s manufacturing, material used for its casting, acoustic features of the bell, history of the industry and parts which are integral part of the bell. The recherche was composed mainly based on Czech academic literature, nonetheless, to a lesser extent, abroad resources were included too. Within the framework of the practical part a bronze bell was casted by a lost wax method with the contribution of 3D print.
The Singing Fountain in The Royal Garden of The Prague castle

This work follows three main questions, which will allow a deeper appreciation of art historical monument. At first, there is a concise story of rulers, which donated fountain. In the next part, the work gives ideas of the original context of the installation of the bronze fountain in the architecture of the Royal Garden at the Prague Castle in the third quarter of the 16th century. The artistic description with historical sources presents the monument as the result of the work of artists associated around the royal gunsmith Tomas Jaros of Brno. In the closing section attempts to draw attention to the potential non-European cultural influence in the creation of artwork. Compared fanciful figures on the fountain with bells of the late 16th century, attempts to document the gradual domestication of a particular theme used on the Habsburg court before the arrival of Rudolf II. Secondary question will present conservation of the artwork.

Medieval bell founding. Bell founding and archaeology in the Middle Ages and the Early Modern period.

The bachelor thesis examines bell founding in Bohemia in the Middle Ages and the Early Modern period of modern history, primarily from an archaeological viewpoint. The archaeological part of the bachelor thesis, which is central to the whole paper, relies on findings of works on both moveable and immoveable archaeological evidence of bell founding from several regions of Bohemia. The goal of the bachelor thesis is to introduce a new picture of bell founding from various perspectives. The paper comprises not only an archaeological point of view, which focuses on archaeological finds of bells and bell fragments and archaeological evidence from bell foundries, but also a campanological and historical point of view, presenting the current state of research in the field. In terms of methodology, the bachelor thesis uses description, transcription, induction, deduction, analysis, synthesis, and a synchronous approach to the matter. Attached are: sketches and photography of archaeological finds, sketches and photography of immovable archaeological finds, tabular summaries and graphs.

Family and personal memories of Luisa Perner-Zykmund, the citizen of Pilsen, as a solace for the difficult times

Bachelor's thesis "Family and personal memories of Luisa Perner-Zykmund, the citizen of Pilsen, as a solace for the difficult times" focuses the matters of Ego-Documents in conjunction with urban environments. Subject of this thesis is based on using three books of memoirs from the inheritance of the last member of the Perner family, the bell founders dynasty from Pilsen. Her memoirs focus the personal experiences of the author, her family story and events associated with the town history, accentuating the 19th century period. Chapter one of outlines the Pilsen history, focusing this period again. Chapter two then describes the lives of master bellfounders from the Perner family and the author?s own life. The third chapter of thesis can be considered as its main point. There can be found the detailed analysis of the Luisa Perner-Zykmund's books of memoirs, written probably between the years 1924 and 1946. This analysis includes their internal and external description, connecting them with other personal materials of the author. Also there is the analysis of structures and topics of Perner-Zykmund's writings. Conclusion of this thesis summarizes the importance of personal matter sources and reasons that could have led the author to writing her memoirs. Based on this, there can be found proposals for their further use primarily in research of everydayness history. Further attached there are bibliography and several appendixes including the Perners family tree, samples of handwritings from each of the books, several clearly arranged tables, maps and photographs.
