Thematic atlas of lookout rocks in the area of Jetřichovice in Bohemian Switzerland National Park
Linková, Klára ; Lysák, Jakub (advisor) ; Valchářová, Daniela (referee)
The bachelor's thesis deals with the creation of a thematic atlas, the content of which are maps depicting the most famous rock viewpoints in the area of the Jetřichovice rocks in the territory of the České Švýcarsko national park. Emphasis is placed on modern methods of topographical rock mapping and large-scale digital cartography to represent sandstone rock formations and man-made objects on them. Part of the thesis is the presentation of basic information about the locality from the point of view of geology, geomorphology and history, description of individual methods suitable for data collection in sandstone rock relief and methods of depicting rocks on large-scale maps. Furthermore, a search of available maps and plans of specific rocks is carried out and the used method of rock representation is described. On the basis of the field research, thanks to drone photography, targeting using GNSS and final data revision using the Collector for ArcGIS application, data on locations of interest are obtained, which are further processed into a geodatabase. Subsequently, a custom character key design is created for individual objects. The practical output is the thematic atlas itself including the created maps together with accompanying texts and images. The maps are processed in the ArcGIS Pro...
Map of Kopicův statek and its surroundings (Bohemian Paradise, Czechia)
Peterková, Lucie ; Lysák, Jakub (advisor) ; Bayer, Tomáš (referee)
The aim of the bachelor thesis is to create a large-scale map with touristic content of the surroundings of Kopic's farm located in the village of Kacanovy in the Bohemian Paradise. The thesis is mainly focused on the representation of sandstone rocks by the contour method and artistic reliefs on them created by Vojtěch Kopic in the last century. The emphasis is on the use of data collected by drones (lidar, optical images). The existing available map documentation of the area of interest was also evaluated, with the result that the map produced exceeds all of them in quality and detail. Detailed mapping of the objects was carried out by means of a field survey using ArcGIS Field Maps. The final map, that obeys cartographic principles, was created in ArcGIS Pro software. The large-scale (1 : 670) map of the site is in the form of a paper map in A3 format. It is probably the first map showing the surroundings of the Kopic farm in such detail and at the same time documenting the created rock gallery, which is part of the monument heritage of the Kopic farm. Key words: digital cliff drawing, large-scale map, sandstone relief, lidar, drone
Analysis of rock hachures drawn using ladder style representation
Ludačková, Markéta ; Lysák, Jakub (advisor) ; Tomková, Michaela (referee)
The thesis deals with the analysis of the drawing of rock hatches created in a ladder style representation on the Czech state map series (SMD), specifically on the last edition of the analogue ZM 10. Therefore, the purpose of this thesis is to, on the basis of many specific uses of this method in maps, determine the frequency of occurrence of variants of the ladder style drawing and its possible spatial context for the purpose of future automation of their digital creation usable, for example, in the new SMD. A total of 11 clusters representing different styles of rock drawing were classified using a cluster analysis based on the calculation of features representing the geometric characteristics of the drawing of the rock. This result represents an exact confirmation of the hypothesis presented in the scientific literature that the drawing of the rocks is not uniform on the map sheets of the SMD. Subsequently, a style of rock drawing which best corresponds to the specification of the ladder style representation from the literature and which is the most represented, is selected. The characteristics of these selected rock drawing styles are further described and discussed. Ultimately, the output of this thesis is the determination of such a style of rock drawing, which makes sense to further analyse...
Tourist map of the Pravčická brána Rock Arch and its surroundings with focus on large-scale sandstone relief mapping
Žuravská, Markéta ; Lysák, Jakub (advisor) ; Čábelka, Miroslav (referee)
The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to create a detailed large-scale tourist map that shows the location of the Pravčická brána Rock Arch and its surroundings in the Bohemian Switzerland National Park with a focus on depicting the sandstone relief. Emphasis is placed on the use of information about rock structures from detailed aerial laser scanning data, which allows the representation of rock formations using the shading method. The other data for the creation of a detailed map are obtained by evaluating the available old maps of Bohemian Switzerland, Pravčická brána Rock Arch and its surroundings respectively, and contemporary spatial data of the location. As part of the bachelor's thesis, they were refined and supplemented by field research using GNSS. The field survey is conducted mainly using a mobile application Collector for ArcGIS on the basis of a digital relief model created from aerial laser scanning data. The resulting map is processed in the ArcGIS Pro software. The created large-scale map of this location is in the form of a board map or a folded map and is probably the first such detailed tourist map of the nearby Pravčická brána Rock Arch which uses detailed aerial laser scanning data to show rocks and to reveal both contemporary and historical objects and their Czech and German...

Lysák, Jakub ; Potůčková, Markéta (advisor) ; Brázdil, Karel (referee) ; Šíma, Jiří (referee)
Abstract This thesis focuses on topographic mapping of rock formations with the use of new technologies in a comprehensive manner, from airborne laser scanning (ALS) data acquisition and processing in rocky terrains, followed by their processing to the content of topographic databases and their cartographic processing in maps. The introduction discusses issues of importance for practice, and the relation between topographic mapping of rocks and other fields of human activity. The ALS section describes products for topographic mapping of rocks derived from ALS data, and discusses the specifics of ALS data acquisition and processing in wooded rugged terrain. Existing solutions of this problem are explained and their limitations are identified. Author's own approaches to solving this task are presented as case studies, including three made a further three designed experiments with ALS data processing and evaluation of their results. Recommendation regarding mapping of sandstone landscapes in Czechia have been also addressed. The topographic section describes the current representation of rocks and related objects in the ZABAGED database (Czech national digital topographic database), explains the historical context, analyzes this data and identifies their shortcomings in relation to the ALS.
