Allotment gardening and ecosystem services in the town of České Budějovice

Diploma thesis: Allotment gardening and ecosystem services in the town of České Budějovice is consist from literary research, methodology and subsequent evaluation of the questionnaire survey. In the introduction are explain important concepts - Allotment gardening, history of allotment gardening in Czech Republic and ecosystems services in relation to allotment gardening. The research was conducted by questionnaire survey. This questionnaire was provide for voluntary completion to 53 respondents from allotment gardening in cadastral territory of České Budějovice (area of Husova kolonie and České Vrbné). Short form of questionnaire focused on respondents without garden filled 20 respondents. Results of the work is analysis and evaluation of all answers on questionnaire questions from perspective of ecosystems services describes in literary research. According simple question in research data shows that: - 86, 7 % gardeners perceives garden like a source of fresh vegetable and fruit. - 85 % gardeners have garden like a relaxing space. - 100 % gardeners have compost. - 94 % gardeners captures rain water. - 71 % gardeners grows some different variants of low trees. Conclusion: From results we can deduct that people use this space mainly for drawing on cultural services of ecosystems (relaxing, social interaction..). Vegetable and fruit supply is according gardeners minor reason for gardening. Vegetable and fruit is understood like bonus for relaxing work at garden.

Human alienation from nature

9/67 Abstract My thesis deals with human alienation from nature. The theoretical section aims to answer what is nature and relationship to nature. It also describes how the relationship developed between man and nature. Neglected to stay or work in human nature - recreation and gardening settlements. The thesis also focuses on the children and nature around them. Besides, my study is searching for links within school eco- center and framework of educational programme for elementary education. There occur attempts to look for the causes and consequences of running away from nature. Furthermore, the answer to delay human alienation from nature is being looked around. A self-made research determines what types of environments the pupils in the fifth grade of elementary schools in Brandys nad Labem - Stara Boleslav use and spend their leisure time there. Whether the town Brandys nad Labem - Stara Boleslav offers to students natural space witch students may use for their relaxation and doing sports. The thesis is studying whom pupils spend their leisure time outside with and who is their partner or guide. Allotment gardening and allotment sites in the town of České Budějovice

The bachelor thesis - History and development of allotment gardening and allotment sites in the town of České Budějovice describe in the introduction important terms like gardening settlement, Czech gardening association (ČZS), history and development of gardening in different state in Europe. The chapter describing history is more focused on Czech gardening. Here are explained the function of gardening settlements and their threat. The main output of the practical part is complex map with the drawn gardening settlements and information about history of gardening in České Budějovice. To the map relate information about number of settlements with gardens in private ownership, gardening settlements with gardens owned by the city, total area of the settlements, number owners of gardens in settlements etc Total number of settlements is 12, but they are divided between 20 smaller settlements (5 at town holding and 15 at private holding). The main reason for this current status is in different owners (private vs. town České Budějovice) and significant division by the roads. The settlements have 91,1 hectares (1,6 % total area of České Budějovice). The area of settlements is divided between 1122 owners (1,2 % population of České Budějovice).
