The relationship between internet addiction and coping strategies in adolescence

The thesis focuses on the concept of internet addiction and its relationship with coping strategies in adolescents. Theoretical part of this thesis outlines the framework of behavioral addictions and places internet addiction within this framework. It critically summarizes the issue of internet addiction, its criteria, and models. It points out the specifics of adolescents' excessive internet use. This thesis also briefly depicts coping and its role in internet addiction. The empirical part proposes a correlation study based on existing literature investigating the relationship between coping strategies and excessive internet use in Czech adolescents applying EIU and Brief-COPE tools. Finally, thesis discusses the potential contribution, as well as limits, of the proposed project. Keywords Internet; Addiction; Coping Strategies; Adolescence
