Multi-shield wing construction options
Zemánek, Martin ; Löffelmann, František (referee) ; Šplíchal, Jan (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with the design possibilities of wing structures for gliders with a wingspan of 20m. The research section is focused on describing possible wing structural design solutions including multi-beam wing structure, as well as defining specific design parameters and requirements of gilder wings. The practical section is focused on the design and calculation of the structure of a wing with specified geometry and loading in two variants – single-spar and multi-spar. The output of this work consists of two final wing structure designs and a comparison of their mass. In the multi-spar design, the compared wing half has a mass of 33.507kg, while the single-spar variant has a mass of 37.04kg. The use of the multi-spar design therefore results in a mass saving of 3.53kg per wing half, the total mass saving is 7.07kg.
