Contemporary Czech Poetry and its Perceiver

Diploma Thesis Abstract: Contemporary Czech Poetry and its Perceiver Charles University in Prague Faculty of Education Czech Language and Litterature Department Vendula Hoření The introduced diploma thesis deals with the topic of contemporary Czech poetry. Its typical form and content are desired to be found. By "contemporary" is meant the period in which the materials for its realisation were collected, i.e. between spring 2010 and spring of the 2011th. Emphasis is placed on the perceiver and the way in which he can meet with poetry today. The hypothesis that the result of research will be revelation that certain contents and forms are timeless, but others only current, was confirmed. As a new content were found topics as responses to the actual phenomenas of virtuality, ecology and consumer society. Among the new forms of contemporary Czech poetry were classified: the project Poems on the Underground, anthology The Best Czech Poetry, competition in author recitation Poetry Slam and singer-songwriter meeting Open mic as taken from foreign models and Physical poetry of Petr Váša and in a certain sense also poetic improvisation of Jakub Foll as original contemporary Czech poetry.
The Role of an Author in a Work of Art Based on Jan Mukařovský Focused on a Film

In my thesis, I focus on the role of an author in a work of art, and film in particular, based on Jan Mukařovský. Firstly, I describe Mukařovský's structuralist concept of an art work. Thus, following Ferdinand de Saussure's ideas, he views a work of art as an autonomous sign. At the same time, he uses de Saussure's terms langue and parole. In this text, I explain Mukařovský's terms of an aesthetic function, a norm and a value. I also examine the difference between an individual and a subject of art, and between intentionality and unintentionality. I compare Mukařovský's view of the author with other theorists, namely, Umberto Eco, Roland Barthes and Michael Foucault. Hence, I show historical changes within the concept of the author, and also explain Pierre Levy's cyber-cultural understanding of it. In addition, I discuss other authors, who bring together film arts and the interplay of signs. In particular, I introduce James Monaco and Jerzy Plaževski, and connect their thoughts with ideas of Mukařovský. These authors create a bridge between the concept of a film author and Mukařovský, who does not discuss this authorship in particular. Translation in the Dialogue: The Process of Encoding and Decoding of Film Style in a Remake of the Original Work

The following bachelor's thesis concerns the remake, in the context of its use in the history of cinema and in film theory. I discuss the various definitions and possible forms of the remake, which has existed since the inception of film. Each theoretical consideration of the remake brings about a different choice of perspective and method of examination. Thus, the main part of the thesis is comprised of an effort to acquire a new apparatus through which one can think of the remake as a variant interpretation of the original work. In this regard, I transpose approaches from literary theory to film discourse, mainly referencing the theoretical methods of Gérard Genette, Julia Kristeva, Seymour Chatman, Umberto Eco and the concepts of intertextuality and interpretation. The last chapter analyzes two specific films, positioning Takashi Miike's Visitor Q as a remake of Pier Paolo Pasolini's Teorema. The relationship between remake and original develops new readings of both works. A remake is, in fact, based on the filmmaker's unique reading of an original work. This reading marks the transition between the filmmaker's experience as a viewer of the original and their position as creator of the remake.
