The impact of paywall introduction for the IHNED.cz news website

This diploma thesis summarises the development of paid content of ihned.cz, on-line news server of the Czech economic daily Hospodářské noviny. It observes the influence of paywall from August 2014 until April 2015. The aim of the implementation of paywall was to show that the content created on the server was valuable. The theoretical part deals with new challenges media face, including economic and technological changes; it describes the rise of commercialization and media reaction, and solution for these changes in the form of convergence and digital-first concept. The diploma thesis is viewed through the political economy of media approach. It focuses on monetization of content, the willingness of readers to pay for on-line news, traditional and alternative revenues of media, and it describes the examples of implemented paywall in other media. In the practical part, the thesis describes how paywall influenced economic revenues, specifically the digital subscription, advertising and financial results of the publisher Economia, which is providing the server ihned.cz. The Web 2.0 environment and its usage in business corporations

The main goal of my Bachelor thesis is to bring basic information about the Web 2.0 environment and its advantages for business corporations. In the first part of thesis I define the Web 2.0 environment and the key differences betweet Web 2.0 and Web 1.0. Next I describe specific advantages which firms can achieve by implementation of Web 2.0 environments elements in relationships inside the firm, relationships with costumers and relationships with business partners. The next part is primarly oriented upon social networks and I describe various tools and techniques which can be used to analyze advertising pages on social networks. The added value of my work is in analysis of a company and the method it uses social media sites. After a detailed analysis constructed with a chosen tool I purpose some changes that could improve the actual state.

The thesis analyses the impact of Internet marketing tools on visits of the Lenovo Blog CZ, the official blog of the computer manufacturer Lenovo. It focuses evolution of visits of the blog over time, on the impact of social networks and Facebook posts paid promotion on visits. Finally, it observes to what extent the Internet marketing tools impact overall visits of the blog over the observed time.
