Assistance to Victims of Crime

The thesis deals with the assistance to victims of crime and aims to provide a comprehensive view of the issue. The purpose of this thesis is to assess the level of assistance provided in relation to its legal anchoring and subsequent application practice. The content of the thesis consists of an introduction, six chapters and a conclusion. In the first chapter the thesis is devoted to the interpretation of basic concepts related to the issue of victims of crime. It defines the victim and describes its various categorisations, including the definition of a particularly vulnerable victim. The distinction between victim and an injured party is also clarified for better orientation in the following text. The second chapter then briefly describes the development of the victim's position and role in criminal proceedings from a historical perspective, and briefly describes the basic international regulation of victims' rights with a focus on European legislation in this area. To complete the explanation of the basic concepts and the historical and international context, the third chapter deals with the concept of the victim of crime from the perspective of criminology and victimology respectively. Significance of Victimology for the Prevention of Crime

Thesis title: Significance of Victimology for the Prevention of Crime The purpose of this thesis is to analyse the significance of victimology for the prevention of crime and to provide a summary of the basic victimological recommendations victims should remember in case they get into threatening situations. The thesis consist of seven chapters including an introduction and a conclusion. The introduction describes the concept of the thesis and defines objectives, which the thesis should aim at. The following chapter is dedicated to victimology that comprises a scientific study focused on victims of crime: its short development, as well as its basic terms which are crucial for handling the issue. Attention is also paid to the definition of a victim and aggrieved person in Czech law and offers comparsion of those concepts. The basic typologies of the victims are also mentioned. The third chapter provides a comprehensive interpretation of the prevention of crime, first defined in general. The issue of victims of sexual offences and their protection through criminal law Abstract The theme of this diploma thesis refers to the issue of victims of sexual offences and their protection through criminal law. This thesis aims to theoretically analyse this issue, describe the specifics of the victimisation process, and focus on protecting victims of sexual offences through criminal law. The author also asks in the introduction why these victims are victimised by so many. It also evaluates the legislation in selected areas and suggests possible changes in the legislation. The thesis itself is divided into six chapters, each of which deals with different aspects of this theme. The first chapter deals with the current legislation on selected crimes of rape, sexual abuse and sexual coercion. The author also discusses the degree of their latency, which is relatively high in crimes against human dignity in the sexual field. Protection of Victims of Crime Abstract This diploma thesis deals with the issue of protection of victims of crime. The first chapter is focused on victimology - a branch of criminology that scientifically studies the relationship between a victim and an offender. This chapter also deals with various historical and current approaches in victimology. The partial goal of this chapter is to provide an overview of the theoretical background, which should provide the reader with a basis for understanding the position of victims, protection of victims and their role in criminal proceedings, which are discussed in the following chapters. The second chapter deals with the phenomenon of the victim of crime. This chapter analyzes the concept of the victim of crime, compares the definition of the victim in the law of the Czech Republic and in the law of the European Union. It also deals with society's response to crime, the relationship between society and the victim, and some misconceptions about the so-called ideal victim. The relationship between society and the victim can be key to the victim's willingness to report committing of crime to law enforcement authorities, so I pay close attention to it. Stranger compliment as a form of symbolic violence on women in Czech Republic

This thesis introduces sociolinguistic phenomenon called street compliment, that has not been studied much in Czech Republic. It is a form of a comment given in public places by unacquainted persons, most commonly by men to women but not exclusively. Based in the feminist tradition the research was realized as a set of semi-structured interviews with eight female participants. The research revealed how the participants understand the phenomenon and how the heteronormative configuration of society is being perpetuated. The interpretation of street compliment as a form of a compliment is based on the discourse of female atractiveness and a strong sexual drive at males. The street compliment can be used to express sexual interest, to perform masculinity or to perform identity overall. The street compliment as a display of masculine behaviour towards a legitimate target, that is to say attractive woman, refers to the use of street compliment as a mean of disciplination of female subjects. The participants agreed that they do not utter street compliments because of its convenience. Instead they would express their interest in a group of friends without exteriorizing it.
