Doležel, Vladimír ; Polednik, Franciszek (referee) ; Koleňák, Jiří (advisor)
This Master’s thesis has been elaborated on the basis of a real issue, which a company, which decided to procure it’s full time presence in the Austria’s market, is facing. The analysis of the present state, which proved the rationality of the decision, is followed by a theoretical fundament of this thesis, that lays the foundations of the specific proposal leading to reach the aim given by the company. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the core of the international trade and its brief history. The thesis is further focused on the areas of the international trade important for solving the given issue. The main areas are as follows: international trade legal regime, law of international trade, risks in the international trade, ways of penetration into a foreign market. Based on the knowledge attained in the theoretical part of this thesis, while applying them, I have come to the conclusion, that it would be best for the company to establish a branch office in the Austria. The conclusion is followed by a factual proposal of progress supplemented by a calculation of costs of establishing the branch office and calculation of operating costs for the first year. I am also proposing a strategy for legal relationships being concluded by a branch office and marketing strategy for the first year.
Analysis of vertical integration in cocoa sector in Ghana
Assim, Prince
The study analysed the vertical integration of the cocoa sector in Ghana. The objectives were to describe the backward and forward integration of the cocoa sector of Ghana. It also described the challenges and prospects of vertical integration in the cocoa industry in Ghana. The final aim was to highlight the trading partners within the global community which transacts business with Ghana in the cocoa industry. The study resorted to using secondary data since majority of the data are easily accessible and found in the repository of various institutions. This data was obtained from FAO of UNCTAD database, COCOBOD, ICCO, journal articles, books and relevant websites. The backward integration of the cocoa industry in Ghana through the subsidiaries of COCOBOD controls affairs to the source of raw materials basically to ensure that quality cocoa beans abides. Forward vertical integration on the Ghana cocoa industry sees most LBC’s stretching their scope of activities to processing of cocoa beans which is a segment on the value chain of cocoa industry. The GOG in the past decade has taken steps as part of consolidating the cocoa business to expand its processing company based in Tema. It is noted that GOG wants to ensure that 50% of the cocoa beans are processed locally to add some degree of value prior to export. It is significantly noted that unlike other countries where there is a considerable integration in the processing and distribution segments of their cocoa industry. Ghana, a key supplier of the cocoa beans has its production segment of the cocoa industry typically fragmented among scattered smallholders. Ghana also has a number of trading partners in relation to the export of cocoa beans and chocolate and other foods containing cocoa. European countries which are seen to be trading with Ghana in this industry have flexible tariffs structure which allows it as a continent to import a greater share of the raw material and end product of Ghana’s cocoa. The study recommended that the government should present an environment which is full of incentives for the farmers by providing incentives which may take forms such as a consistent and attractive increase in the producer prices, waiver of taxes from some cocoa cultivation inputs, provision of other key resources such as fertilizer, farm machinery among others. The government can acquire land and deploy most of the unemployed youth to enter into a state own cocoa plantation program. Lastly, the quest of the government to ensure that additional value is added to the cocoa beans should also be looked at keenly

The Analysis of the Impact of Antitrust Policy on the Hollywood Film Industry in 1940's
Wolf, Vojtěch ; Stellner, František (advisor) ; Jeřábková, Zdenka (referee)
In the 1940s Hollywood saw the biggest changes in its history. Based on a series of antitrust investigations, the U.S. Supreme Court decided to break up the Hollywood studio system -- production, distribution and exhibition. As a result, the studios were forced to sell their affiliated theatre chains and to abandon certain business practices, such as block booking and blind selling. The purpose of my thesis is to clarify how the film industry was affected by this intervention and whether these changes should have occurred, in the first place.

Breweries are specific for complex and expensive reverse logistics of returnable packaging. The question whether producing beer in PET bottles would be appropriate for Protivín brewery is studied. Determining the level of services provided for brewery customers is examined. According to the results presented here, the greatest demands on services provided by breweries appeared to be those by the customers in gastronomy sphere. Based on the questionnaire investigation, the standards in providing brewing services were set together. Finally, I suggested possible improvements that should lead to cost savings, greater flexibility of operations and competitive advantages for the Protivín brewery as well as for the whole K Brewery Group.
