Experimental study of the influence of user behaviour on the output of the Instagram algorithn
Holubová, Jitka ; Švelch, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Švelch, Jan (referee)
Social networks are a driving force in today's society and affect more things than one might think at first glance. These include the creation of opinion bubbles, rabbit holes, the breakdown of public discourse, and more. User behavior used there varies, and its influence on the evolution of social networks, and hence its impact on their algorithms, has been described rather superficially so far. This paper will examine the influence of user behavior on the transformation of the Instagram social network algorithm. The aim of this thesis is to determine whether and to what extent the Instagram algorithm responds to different types of user behaviour through experimental research.
Impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on streaming services and their users
Měska, Tomáš ; Kruml, Milan (advisor) ; Štoll, Martin (referee)
This thesis examines the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on streaming services and their users. It aims to shed light on how the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic, as well as the government measures and lockdowns that stifled social life and locked people in their homes for weeks, affected the use of streaming platforms by their users. This thesis focuses on the main characteristics and types of streaming services, the basic concepts associated with them, and looks at the production of new content as well as their distribution models. The subsequent section discusses the coronavirus and its impact on social behaviour, and then in particular the impact on the film industry in terms of production, content, cinema and film festival operations and of course the streaming services themselves. The final segment of the thesis then analyses and interprets the data collected in the questionnaire survey. Respondents' answers provide the basis for finding solutions to the research questions, which identify which streaming services users use, how many they use concurrently, how much time they spend watching streaming content, what categories of content they watch, or in what ways they use the services, for example in terms of devices or in comparison to other types of media.
Using user behaviour for preferences on web
Kolomičenko, Vojtěch ; Eckhardt, Alan (advisor) ; Dokulil, Jiří (referee)
The aim of this work is to propose an efficient way of tracking user behaviour on web sites and a way of evaluating this behaviour to obtain a rating for each site. A web application in a form of e-shop is implemented, with the task of capturing the behaviour on pages with particular products and then calculating these products' ratings from that behaviour. The application also shows a typical usage of obtained ratings to recommend the best products to the user. It is also tested how accurately chosen types of monitored behaviour and calculated ratings indicate the popularity of each product (by another name, user preferences).
