Czech Republic, Poland & Hungary: Public and Charity

In September survey CVVM have asked some questions concerning charity. It enquired participation on charitable activities of respondents from the period of last 12 months and also people's view of support to charity from the part of Czech firms. Comparable surveys were done in Poland and Hungary as well.
Public Opinion about Transfer of Sudet-German and about President Benes Decrees

In November survey CVVM asked respondents some questions about Benes decrees. Currently 65 % respondents share the opinion that Benes Decrees should continue to be in force, 8 % stood up for their cancellation, and 27 % had no opinion on this issue. Another question posed was about the expulsion of Sudet-Germain people from Czech borderland in 1945-6. Almost half of respondents (47 %) considered this historical act to be just. On the contrary 36 % marked expulsion as an unjust (simultaneously majority of them claimed necessity to make a thick line behind the past) and 17 % had no opinion on this. Supporters of Benes decrees were recruited mainly from the older generation of the age of 60 and more (60 %). Young respondents (age of 15-29) were a bit hesitating. Approximately 37 % of them had no opinion on this topic at all.
How Czech Public Evaluate U.S. Government's Decision to Cancel Planned Installation of U.S. Anti-missile Radar in Czech Republic?

According to October survey of CVVM, 80 % of Czechs are satisfied with a decision of U.S. administration to cancel the project of installation of U.S. missile defense radar on Czech soil. Only 12 % of respondents expressed the opposite feeling in this matter.
Czech Public Opinion on the Treaty of Lisbon in October 2009

In October 2009, Public Opinion Research Centre questioned Czech public about the Treaty of Lisbon. People were asked, whether they know, what the term "Treaty of Lisbon" means, whether they are informed about the treaty and interested in this topic. Except these questions, the survey investigated public opinion on the ratification of the treaty, and whether the position of the Czech Republic will be better, the same or worse, if the treaty is adopted. The press release includes also a comparison of new data with previous results.
Citizens on Economic Situation of Their Households and on Some Social Conditions in the CR

In October survey CVVM examined how Czech citizens see the financial situation of their households. They evaluated whether it is difficult to manage with their earnings, but also talked about attitudinal feeling of poverty. The survey also investigated whether it is difficult to meet some life requirements such as foodstuff, clothes and shoes, housing, water and energy, furniture, common non-food products, cultural and sport activities, health care and education. The survey was also concerned on evaluation of some social conditions of life in the Czech Republic. Results were compared with previous survey.
The change of former political regime

In October 2009 CVVM investigated on public attitudes towards former communist regime. Only 15 % of respondents consider former communist regime to be good and on the contrary 80 % of respondents is against hypothetical return of communism in the Czech Republic.
The Comparison of Present Situation and Situation before November 1989

In its regular survey in September 2009, CVVM focused on the subject of comparison of present situation and the situation before November 1989. Respondents compared then and present situation in general as well as in some particular aspects of life, in this case from their personal experience. The information consists also a comparison of new data with previous results.
Opinions on the KSČM

CVVM, Institute of Sociology AS CR, v.v.i. in its September survey classified the block of questions, mapping views of respondents to KSČM. Some of the questions have been asked repeatedly - first introduced into the investigation included ten years ago.
Opinions of Czech Public towards Czech Beer and Brewing Industry in 2008

In September 2008 CVVM SOÚ AV ČR replicated some of the questions about beer, which constitute a part of research project Pubs and Beer in Czech Society that is under way since 2004. This press release maps the basic expectations of Czech public about the future of Czech beer and brewing industry and sentiments of citizens towards the competition of producers of different size on Czech market.
Prestige of occupations

In its regular survey ‘Our society’ in June 2008 the Public Opinion Research Centre focused on the reputation of 26 selected occupations. The most prestigious occupation according to the opinion of the Czech population is a medicine doctor, followed by a scholar, a university educator and a teacher on basic school. Among the most prestigious occupations we can find a nurse as well.
