Family environment and adolescent alcohol consumption

This diploma thesis Family environment and adolescent alcohol consumpiton deals with a relationship between four dimensions of family environment and alcohol consumption of sixteen years old adolescents. These four dimensions are leisure time, family structure, parenting style and socioeconomic status. In the theoretical part family influence on child's development is described and then socialization process through which family influence child's development is delimited. Further, the relationship between family environment and alcohol consumption is discussed and then four dimensions of family environment are characterized in context of alcohol consumption. Relationship between family environment and alcohol consumption was studied using mixed research design. In the main quantitative part of the thesis general relationships between chosen dimensions of family environment and alcohol consumption indicators were examined using data from European School Project on Alcohol and Other Drugs (ESPAD) from the year 2007. Then a typology of adolescent alcohol consumers was made. Results of this part continued in the qualitative part. The influence of one-parent family enivronment on the identity-shaping process of a child

This thesis deals with influence of childhood environment without one parent for the identity of child. Recently the society is created with uncomplete families, the causes are diffrent. The most frequent reason of uncomplete family is the divorce of marriage, next cause is the death of one parent, another reason is the choice of one parent to stay with a child alone. The definition of identity is an appreciation of myself. Children from uncomplete families realized their diffrenece of children from comlete families who have both parents. This could be the consequence of many problems. The girls brouht without their male model could have problems with creating of partner´s relationships. In case of boys, misssing father could means the absence of autority, courage, power. The practical part uses dialogs like a technique of research. Interviewed are at the age from 23 to 43 years.They grew up in uncomplete family environment. The results of research are complemented by data obtained in dialogs and as well as the commentaries by author. This part is concluded with a thorough analysis of the data. The results show that the girls whose father died could have problems with creating of relationships bacause of missing male model. The girls don´t know how to deal with men. Other results are the daily dreams of children about death parent. Child imagine that the parent is still alive. These dreams help them to settle with missing parent. It is very important for children from divorced families as well as for children whose parent died. Another important finding is that the properties of mother have big influence for settle with the situation. If the mother is able to occupate her child and take the male role, for child is it much more easier.

The essay undertakes matters in subsidizing families in Czech Republic. After introduction consisted of cardinal issues are provide definitions of general terms. Changes in family structure and family functions depending on demographic transitions are widely characterized in third part. Particular description of subsidies provide in Czech Republic since 2008 is followed by analysis of these particular subsidies with emphasis on negative effects. In the last part of the work are made short comparisons with Great Britain, Sweden and Germany. The result evaluates Czech family policy as effective in the view of specified political aims.
