Selected String Quartets of the Bohemian Composers of the Late 18th Century in Southbohemian Music Collections, Study and Edition
ŠIMEK, Martin
There are several historical music collections in the South Bohemian region, which to a greater or lesser extent also include chamber music that is mostly found in the Schwarzenberg music collection preserved in Český Krumlov. In the second half of the 18th century, there was an extensive production of works for chamber ensembles, especially for the cast of the string quartet. Over the course of several decades, quartet music had developed from a genre designed for home music performances to sophisticated concert music intended for connoisseurs. Czech composers also took part in this development. The selection of works by these authors not yet published in the new era will be the subject of this work including the new edition and placement in the contemporary context. The selection includes compositions by Jan Pavel Veselý (1762-1810), a native of Hluboká nad Vltavou and Vojtěch Jírovec (1763-1850), a native of České Budějovice.
Enhancement Of Global Tempo Computation In Beat Tracking System Based On Teager-Kaiser Energy Operator
Ištvánek, Matěj
Beat detection systems and onset detections are used in music information retrieval (MIR) research field for the calculation of the global tempo (GT) and beat positions in audio recordings. The aim of this article is to introduce the enhancement of the onset detector and therefore the beat tracking system. The enhancement is based on the Teager-Kaiser energy operator (TKEO), which is used in pre-processing stage before the onset computation. The proposed method is firstly evaluated in terms of ability to estimate GT of a given audio track and then it is tested on the string quartet database. Results suggest that the TKEO could improve accuracy of GT estimation. Proposed beat tracking system could be used for analysis of interpretation changes in string quartet music.
Czech school viola play
Mokrá, Eva ; Tomášek, Jiří (advisor) ; Kubátová, Gabriela (referee)
I focus on viola performances in the Czech surroundings in my thesis. I follow the topic of my Bachelor thesis. I resume the history of the instrument playing in my introduction; then I follow the development to the string quartet from its origin - turn of the 19th and 20th centuries until today. I analyze the artistic career of some chosen quartets, which are characteristic for certain period. I especially take notice of important Czech viola players (Herold, Škampa). I introduce two contemporary figures of the viola play (Doležal, Pěruška) in the practical part and I offer comparison of the interpretations of Dvořák's compositions done by three different string quartets from different periods.
