Street Harassment and Its Reflexion in Czech Mass Media

(in English) This thesis focuses on the phenomenon of street harassment and analyses the ways in which this phenomenon is framed in the Czech media. The theoretical part of the thesis is devoted to a comprehensive view of street harassment, its definition, its impact on harassed women or theories explaining its origin. I also look at the extent to which street harassment is widespread in the world. I also describe how the media influence the construction and perception of the world and how street harassment is presented in the world media. The main aim of this thesis is to identify media frames related to street harassment in Czech news websites. The media frames were identified using the qualitative frame analysis method, in four news servers selected on the basis of their viewership, credibility and proclaimed ideological neutrality. Thus, I conducted the analysis on the news servers Aktuálně.cz, Seznam zprávy, iDNES.cz and Parlamentní listy. In these monitored servers, I sought answers to the research questions: how and through which frames is street harassment presented in the selected news servers over the monitored period, and are there differences in the framing of this topic between news servers?
