Hopes and Limits of Fair Trade from a Socio-economic Perspective

The work deals with the topic of fair trade from a socio-economic point of view, with the aim of describing the main historical milestones of fair trade and answering the set research questions. In the first part of the work, the key aspects of fair trade, its historical development and the benefits and limitations of this business model are identified through literature research. Using the results obtained as part of a questionnaire survey, the empirical part examines the behavior, knowledge and awareness of consumers about the concept of fair trade, which turns out to be very narrow. It also provides an insight into the factors that have the greatest influence on the support of fair trade in companies selling fair trade products. It turns out that profit is not the most important factor. Last but not least, it was found that companies see the future in fair trade and continue to plan to sell these products.
The impact of Fairtrade programmes on the consumption of private labels

The main aim of this diploma thesis is to assess the impact of Fairtrade programmes on consumption of private label products in chosen retail chain. Important part of this thesis is to make suggestions to raise awareness of private label products with Fairtrade programme certification based on the found information. This diploma work has two parts - theoretical and practical. Theoretical part is focused on Fairtrade and Fairtrade programmes, private labels, marketing research and consumer behaviour. Practical part includes description of chosen retail chain - Kaufland v. o. s and their private labels in connection with Fairtrade programmes. Very important in practical part is marketing research. Marketing research was implemented in the form of and online questionnaire with 22 questions. The obtained data were analysed with MS Excel and software Statistica. Specifically, Pearson's chi-square test and correlation coefficient were used. Based on the analysis, the results were evaluated The main finding from the research is that awareness of Fairtrade programmes is generally low. The same situation is with using Fairtrade programmes at private label products. The main reasons for buying are taste and price. Next reasons are good feeling, environmental protection, good working conditions and others. From the survey were obtained other interesting information. In conclusion, people are not completely indifferent to Fairtrade and helping others, but awareness needs to be raised, which will lead to more help to producers and farmers in developing countries. Another benefit will be higher sales of products of private brands of retail chains with Fairtrade programme certification mark.

This bachelor thesis finds out what is the awareness of fair trade among students of the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice and it also finds out what students know about fair trade and how they perceive it. The literature overview contains the necessary information to get acquainted with the fair trade idea and the movement itself, and in addition there is a theory of marketing research. The part with my own work contains hypotheses and results of a questionnaire survey, which was conducted among students of the already mentioned faculty.
Awareness of Fair Trade in a Fairtrade Town

This thesis focuses on Fair Trade, human rights and working conditions in developing countries. It deals with both Czech and international companies that are involved in Fair Trade. It focuses on the Fair Trade Towns campaign and is also describes other campaigns that promote Fair Frade ideas. Part of the thesis was a research project that tried to examine whether Český Krumlov citizens are aware of the fact that they live in a Fair Trade Town and whether they support the idea of Fair Trade.

This bachelors thesis is about the concept of fair trade. The main goal is to present the fair trade concept, and furthermore assess ethical shopping and fair trade in the Czech Republic, including the disproval or confirmation of the argument that the price of a product with Fairtrade certification affects a consumers decision to either buy the product or not. The thesis itself consists of two parts. The theoretical part focuses on clarifying the concepts related to the issues and are central to understanding the concept of fair trade. On the other side, the practical part is aimed at a survey of consumers behavior and the knowledge of fair trade among the Czech population. In conclusion, all acquired pieces of knowledge are mentioned and collated.

This barchelor thesis deals with the characteristics of the application of the concept of Fair Trade in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part contains the very concept of Fair Trade, its origin and development up to the present context, fair trade and sustainable development and the implications of international trade for developing countries. The work also defines the system of Fair Trade business in the Czech Republic and its social significance. The work focuses primarily on issues of standards and compliance. Describes the issue of gaining membership in the trade system of Fair Trade and Fairtrade Mark. The practical part is an analysis of the application of the concept of Fair Trade in the Czech Republic and its social perception. Next, the paper contains a comparative analysis Fair Trade standards applied in the Czech Republic. Bachelor thesis also focuses on selected initiatives to promote Fair Trade in the Czech Republic.
Fair trade position on the Czech market

The aim of this Bachelor's thesis is to analyse the positon of fair trade on the Czech market. Firstly I introduce the fair trade movement and its principles, the main international fair trade organizations and also some of the critical views. The third part focuses on the availability of fair trade products in the retail sector and analyse the availability in two retail chains, dm drogerie and Kaufland. The last chapter is devoted to the Czech customers using a questionnaire survey I investigate the awareness of fair trade in the Czech Republic and who is the typical customer of these products.
Social Responsibility and Fair trade in European Context

The goal of the diploma thesis is to determine the current position of the Fair Trade concept in the framework of social responsibility within the European context, to find out strengths and weaknesses, evaluate them, and make the recommendations for the future development and improvement of the European social responsibility with regard to the Fair Trade, as one of the visible activity belonging to the social responsibility approach. The theoretical part focuses on introducing of basic principles of social responsibility and Fair Trade in the European context. In the empirical part, the primary data are collected with the qualitative method using expert interviews with the key experts from Fair Trade area. Personal opinions and suggestions from professionals and experts are presented and summarized. Afterwards, the empirical finding are compared with theoretical background and results are interpreted.
Engagement of the EU into the Enforcement of Fair Trade Principles

The theme of this bachelor thesis is the Engagement of the EU into the enforcement of Fair Trade principles. Its objective is to characterize the approach of the European Union and selected member states to the issue of Fair Trade with third countries and to identify how their attitudes project to the European policy and legislation. The first part is concerned by the general problems of the developing countries and their role in the world trade since 16th century. The second part focuses on the general characteristics of Fair Trade, its major principles, history and also its organisational structure. Fair Trade and the European Union is the theme of the third, key section of this paper. In this part, the approach of the whole European Union and the selected member countries ? such as France, Great Britain, Czech Republic and Greece, to the Fair Trade is analysed and compared here. This thesis facilitates to provide the complex view of the European Union to the Fair Trade and to approximate this concept to the wider public.
Ethic status of personal consumption

The aim of my Bachelor thesis is a list of certificates that will help people to select and promote manufacturers and traders who behave sensitively towards the environment, animals and people. The theoretical section of my work contains various sources of information about reducing personal consumption, about organic food, fair trade and ethical personal consumption in terms of reducing the negative impact of excessive consumption on the environment. In the practical part of my work I have sorted collected certificates into groups for better consumer understanding and created learning material for students who are specialised in Education for health and other people who are interested in this field. I assessed the extent and quality of the services offered by two information centres. My data were obtained by an analysis method and a synthetic method, and also by a directed interview. Both research questions were confirmed.
