Evaluation of taste repellents for protection of tree planting stock from deer browsing
Triner, Libor ; Kuneš, Ivan (advisor) ; Kupka, Ivo (referee)
The main goal of this thesis is to assess the efficacy of two repellent products with active ingredients denatonium benzoate and capsaicin to protect the newly established forest tree planting prior to browsing damage by wild game. Repellents were tested on two different experimental plots planted with silver fir (Abies alba). Application of repellents held in three terms and total three times were the damages, which were included in the framework of the six-rating scale, has been detected. The effectiveness of these repellents has been demonstrated already during the second term damage assessments caused by game. During the more than 14-month experiment was damaged almost 2.5 times fewer seedlings treated with repellents based on denatonium benzoate and capsaicin than untreated seedlings, serving as a control. The most common form of damage to the tree was bitten off terminal bud with little scope of additional damage. Damage to seedlings by game differed significantly even within the investigated areas. Use of repellents did not affect the physiological death of seedlings. It was justify the conclusion that most of the damages were caused by roe deer (Capreolus capreolus). Based on several scientific papers on the efficacy of repellent products based on capsaicin and denatonium benzoate was concluded that the main active ingredient in tested repellents is capsaicin.
Population Development of Ungulates in Broumov Region (NE Bohemia, Czech Republic)
Benešová, Iva ; Červený, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Ježek, Miloš (referee)
The theme of this bachelor thesis is to monitor quantity increase of individual species of ungulates in broumov region. The observed species are red deer (Cervus elaphus), fallow deer (Dama dama), mouflon (Ovis musimon), roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) and wild boar (Sus scrofa). For all these types a short characteristic is included. Broumov is from geographical, zoological and floristic point of view a very interesting locality. The monitored area is divided into six approximately equal parts for the comparison of the number of states. This work includes characteristic of the whole monitored area and also the separated areas with emphases on the important elements of the landscape. This paper observes the increase status of individual areas, compares it with each other and also the whole Czech Republic.
Population development of ungulates in Horažďovice region (SW BBohemiaa) by GIS method
Ferdová, Jiřina ; Červený, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Nováková, Petra (referee)
The goal of this work is to evaluate the development of population dynamics of cloven-hoofed game in the years 2005 - 2014 and various hunting grounds in the interest area. There are the largest population of roe deer and wild boar at the Horažďovice region. There are also other specific game species - mouflon, sika and fallow deer. The landscape at the Horažďovice region is cultural, widely used for agriculture and it is not varied for cloven-hoofed game. The gamekeeper's statistics are the most important source of data for evaluating the development of population dynamics of this game. There were analyzed the data for the spring fundamental groups, hunting and death in specific game species. The results are processed by using clear tables, graphs and primarily maps created by GIS method.
Zhodnocení kvality vybraných druhů krmiv a jejich využití ve výživě spárkaté zvěře
Vacula, Jaroslav
VACULA, J. Assessment of the Quality of Selected Types of Feed and Their Use in the Diet of Cloven Hoofed. Diploma thesis. Mendel university in Brno, 2014. From a wide range of animal feed have been described species suitable for use in the diet of hoofed animals. Samples from selected species of feed were collected in order to evaluate their quality. These samples were analyzed in an agricultural laboratory in Staré Město and their nutrient value and other quality indicators were determined. Quality of examined feed samples was evaluated and their suitability or unsuitability for nutrition of cloven hoofed was assessed. Based on the results, it was recommended which types of feed is appropriate to use for the nutrition of cloven hoofed, how to treat the feed and submit it to animals and were assessed risks of feedeing by selected species of feed.
