Drop In Addictology Services in Towns

The thesis deals with the specific characteristics of drop-in addictology services in a small town. In the introduction, the author describes the drop-in addictology services existing and their activities. The thesis provides a brief insight into the basic principles of such services and their application in the Czech Republic. The core of the thesis consists of the research carried out among the employees of the civic association o. s. Prevent who work in drop-in addictology services in small towns. Within such research, the method of semi-structured narrative interview was applied. The objective of such research was to identify the specifics of their work in small towns as perceived by the employees proper. The intention was to compare the work carried out in small towns to the work as conducted in larger ones. The results identified are meant to point out the issues and challenges of working in small towns, to illustrate the setup of services in these locations, and to outline other possibilities for the future through the employees' eyes. The author's conclusions may support the employees in similar services to gain better orientation in the situation that they experience. Development of small towns in the Posázaví region

The diploma thesis is concerned with the development of three small towns in the Posázaví region. Development preconditions are evaluated according to the project implementation and financing and the communication of the town council with the public. The aim of the thesis is to evaluate what projects the towns implemented during the monitored period and whether these projects contributed to the town development. In the theoretical part of the thesis are defined various types of functioning of public administration and development factors with the emphasis on human and social capital. Furthermore, the thesis discusses different approaches to strategic planning as a major tool for successful development. The chapter about the budget with the emphasis on subsidies is also included in the theoretical part. Two hypotheses emerged from the theoretical part. Following analyses try to answer these hypotheses. The practical part is gradually divided into primary and secondary analysis. In the secondary analysis, the internal development factors and the realized projects, which were divided into development and maintenance, were evaluated. Česká republika má hustou sídelní síť s mnoha menšími městy a vesnicemi. Zastoupení velkoměst v sídelní struktuře je relativně nízké. Pouze šest měst má více než 100 tis. obyvatel. Jediným městem s více než milionem obyvatel je Praha. Druhým největším městem z hlediska počtu obyvatel Brno, následované Ostravou a Plzní.

Small towns such as peripheral centers of rural areas

The topic of the thesis is Small towns such as peripheral centers of rural areas. There are analyzed tree sets of issues in the empirical part: Specific characteristics of the small town in the formation and activities of local self-government in Vodňany, involvement of Vodňany to the intermunicipal cooperation, the role of municipalities as a regional center and impact of the reform of the public administration in Vodňany. There are managed to prove specific characteristics in the number of person without political affiliation and unusual post-election coalition. By selected indicators were found that Vodňany fulfills role of peripheral centers and according to the SWOT analysis were found opportunities for future development in the monitored area. The objectives of the reform of local public administration were largely fulfilled in Vodňany.

The theoretical part of the thesis is focused on explanation of all concepts of these small towns and the practical part includes a analysis of received subsidies and their total evaluation and other potential projects for the development of selected towns with using available support programmes.
Malá města jako centra rurálních mikroregionů

The paper deals with the Czech small towns as a centers of rural microregions. Mircoregions in the central European conditions are usually consist of a microregional centre (a small town as a rule) and surrounding villages. Small towns are analyzed by the point of view of services on the basic urban level, jobs, social contacts, occasions of traveling outside of the micro-region, services of the state administration and sometimes also an identity of the micro-region etc.
Physical geographical typology of small towns of Moravia and Silesia

Solving the project “Geography of small towns” the specifics of these numerous settlements were researched even from the view of various physical geographical disciplines, mainly geomorphology and biogeography. During the last phase three indexes for physical geographical typology of small towns and their hinterlands were selected: types of relief, vegetation belts and types of contemporary landscape. On the basis of their synthesis the set of 124 towns was differentiated into 18 types. Typology presents that small towns of Moravia and Silesia are located in very various environments and are surrounded by varied mosaic of types of contemporary agricultural, agricultural-forested and forested landscapes.
Villages in territory of medieval Moravia deserted by reason of floods: climatic changes or human impacts

Some of villages (Bystřec, Dolní Chlévské) founded in the colonized upland territories in the Middle Ages were damaged by floods soon after their foundation. A question is raised whether the demolition of farmhouses due to high waters relates to the impact of deforestation and agricultural cultivation of soil, or whether it had to do with the climatic changes as often considered today. There in no doubt that from AD 1250 an important role in increasing frequency of floods played LIA.
Contribution to differentiation of small Moravian and Silesian towns from the point of biogeography and geoecology
