This bachelor thesis deals with the durability of different types of monolithic drilling and milling tools made of high-speed steel and sintered carbide. The theoretical part deals with durability, possible types of wear of monolithic drilling and milling tools and related circumstances. The practical part examines the durability of different types of tools for drilling and milling, their comparison in terms of cost and productivity of machining and their impact on production costs in the production of a simple part.

The bachelor thesis titled Coating methods for cutting tools describes techniques of deposition of hard abrasion resistant coatings by physical and chemical methods. The thesis contains the partition of the materials for cutting tools, description of producing cutting inserts made from sintered carbides, basic types of coating layers and comparison of coated sintered carbides in the assortment of selected manufacturers. There is also an outline of some trends in the area of coating methods at the end of the thesis.

Next part refers about necessary information for selection of roughing milling tool and its toolholder. Next chapter deals with basic information about CNC milling machines. Last part is devoted selection of concrete configuration machine, tool and its toolholder for roughing milling of plane and form surface with CNC machines.
