The current problems of reintegration of people released from prison sentences
HOJDEKROVÁ, Adriana
This bachelor's thesis deals with the current issue of reintegration of persons released from prison. The iam of the bachelor's thesis is to describe the current state of reintegration of persons released from prison in the Czech Republic and to identify the problems faced by socil curators and probation officers working in post-penitentiary care. A partial objective was also to propose some optimization recommendations for this area. The theoretical part is divided into three chapters focusing on current trends in the Czech Republic and abroad. It also deals with the process of reintegration of convicted persons from the time of their incarceration until their return into society with an emphasis on the deveploment and support of activities during the execution of their sentence. Two research questions have been identified for the research part: 1. What problems with the reintegration of the persons released from prison do the respondents (social curators, probation officers) see in their work? 2. What solutions to reintegration problems and difficulties do the respondents propose? To research these issues a qualitative method was used in the form of semi-structured interviews with social curators and probation officers. The obtained data were categorized using open coding and the results were recorded in the tables. Finally various recommendations suggested by the respondents aiming at the best possible results of the reintegration are outlined. The research shows that the problems of persons after serving a prison sentence are "deep", and systemic, and not just those that are apparent at first glance. For example problems with housing are only visible manifestations of deeper causes. I am concerned that an effective solutions is not possible in the current socio-political setting of our society because the first-plan solutions are not enough and we are not willing to introduce systemic plans. Under current circumstances, functional family relationship appear to be the most significant element supporting the reintegration of persons after serving a prison sentence. It is necessary that the experts assist this target group during the execution of their sentence and work with them on specific topics. Because if you put a broken car in the garage, it won't fix itself either.

The diploma thesis focuses on the issue of criminality of persons with mental disabilities and specifically the thesis discusses individuals with mental disabilities serving a prison sentence. Due to the fact that this issue has not been sufficiently processed so far and it is still a neglected topic, the aim of the work is not only to approach this issue, but also to find out how the prison system aimed at this target group works and how special education services is provided to convicts with mental disabilities. The diploma thesis also discusses the effectiveness of the methods used, whether the activities of the treatment program for convicts with mental disabilities can contribute to preventing or limiting the occurrence of recidivism. The theoretical part is focused on terminology and the explanation of basic concepts that are closely related to this issue and the practical part is devoted to research that was carried out as part of a professional internship in Vinařice Prison and Stráž pod Ralskem Prison. This is qualitative research, which is carried out in the form of a case study of the two mentioned prisons, specifically specialized departments to serving a prison sentence while data obtained from interviews with employees were used, which were supplemented with findings from observations and provided materials. Based on the results of the research, recommendations were drawn up to ensure the prevention of crime among people with mental disabilities.

PROCHÁZKOVÁ, Andrea
The title of the thesis is Social Integration of People Released from the Prison. The theoretical part describes current situation concerning living conditions of the people sentenced to the prison, that are determined by legal standards in Czech Republic and by internal regulations of each jail house. These conditions form the personality of convicts and influence their social situation, relationships, and connections. The convicts need after the release to be helped with their integration into the society the most and also to be helped with handling their social situation to avoid recidivism. The aim of the diploma work is to describe problems of individuals released from the prison and the process of resocialization in detail. The thesis also provides the survey of possibilities for helping these people, thus service provided for people with inability to adapt to a society and types of facilities dealing with this target group. The practical part was conceived as the qualitative research in form of case studies using semi-structured interviews with the individuals released from the prison. I asked eight clients 28 questions in following categories: social situation of clients before the sentence, their life while imprisoned, their return to freedom and cooperation of the clients with institutions. There was also performed subsidiary quantitative research within the diploma work. I inquired social workers supervising released adults two questions, using e-mail correspondence. The questions were concerning the most frequent problems they had to deal with, after a client was released from the prison, and also services in Czech Republic{\crq}s system that workers missed in helping the target group. I outlined the comparison of the results coming out of my investigation with the current situation in related area, and also with other investigations at the end of my thesis. I recommend for improving the situation of the released individuals from prison to establish institutions with complete range of assistance, multi focused team, and the support in employing the people with criminal records as the high quality instrument of their social integration.
The effects of imprisonment on behavior of convicted offenders
PROCHÁZKOVÁ, Andrea
Abstract The title of my thesis is {\clqq}The effects of imprisonment on behaviour of convicted offenders``. In my opinion this is a challenging issue, not spoken about enough in the public. Since 1989 the pathological, anti-social and deviant behaviour in our fellow citizens has enhanced. It is one of phenomena of the democratization of our country. The number of offenders convicted to imprisonment has been increasing. My thesis is composed of two main sections. The objective of the theoretical section is to give information on life conditions in prisons, the rights and duties of prisoners which are both statutory and stated by the internal regulation of the particular prison. First of all I mention effects of imprisonment on a person serving a sentence{--} his/her social status, family relations, mental balance and possible recidivism. The important component forming the prisoners´ attitudes are ideas and approach of social workers and psychologists who have long-time experience in treating prisoners. Their view of life conditions, prisoners´s readiness for the return into society and resocialization are very interesting. In the practical section of my thesis I demonstrate the effects of imprisonment. I used the questionnaire method. Questionnaires were handed out to prisoners, they themselves answered a series of questions in which they expressed their own opinions and described how imprisonment influenced their lives. The research shows that consequences are fatal in many cases. In my opinion alterations in the prison system are necessary. Improved life conditions and an effective social system would contribute to the effectiveness of imprisonment.
