Contemporary memory and media reflection of the split of Czechoslovakia
Šroglová, Lucie ; Kreisslová, Sandra (advisor) ; Šatava, Leoš (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with memorial reflections on the historical event of the division of Czechoslovakia, since which 30 years has passed in 2023. It seeks to understand how Slovaks permanently living in the Czech Republic remember the event and the processes involved from their specific position as migrants and how they reflect on the impact that the creation of two independent states had on their lives. The oral history method is used to achieve the stated research objective. The analysed and interpreted narrative interviews with the narrators provide an emic perspective on the period under study. The thesis is situated at the borderline between cultural anthropology and memory studies.
