Dopady finanční krize na konvergenci administrativních oblastí Itálie
Vetýšková, Nela
Vetýšková, N. Effects of the financial crisis on the convergence of administrative regions of Italy. Thesis. Brno: Mendel University in Brno, 2023. The diploma thesis examines the influence of the financial and economic crisis of 2008-2009 on the convergence of the Italian regions defined at the NUTS 2 level. Trends in the convergence of the regions are identified using beta analysis of cross-sectional and panel data and sigma analysis. The results show that in the period before the crisis (1995-2008) convergent forces prevailed, and after the crisis (2009-2018) the trend reversed, and the regions diverged. Cluster analysis for the years 2005 and 2012, confirmed the division of Italy into a more "advanced" north and a "backward" south. The development of individual regions over time is also described using important macroeconomic indicators, such as the gross domestic product, the level of education, the unemployment rate, the average monthly wage and the share of industry in the gross added value.

Sustainable regional development using the example of the Upper Rhine Region
VONDERHEID, Bettina
Sustainable regional development is a highly complex concept. A uniform definition has not been possible until today, although sustainable development is the basis for the elaboration of all policies. In the EU, too, sustainable development is the basis of its regional policy. Basically, the regions have a great importance to master the challenges of the modern times. For this reason, the aim of the present work was to find out how Interreg projects, as part of the European regional policy, contribute to sustainable regional development. For this purpose, the Upper Rhine region was considered and four qualitative semi-structured expert interviews were conducted with former and current project managers of Interreg projects. In summary, it can be said that sustainable regional development is defined differently by the interviewees depending on the context. However, one tendency can be identified in the specific Interreg projects. The long-term impact of project results and thus the long-term increase of the quality of life within a cross-border area of influence or area of impact is understood here as sustainable regional development. Interreg projects have a considerable share in this development.

An integral part describes the influence of LAGs on the development of regional planning and association into the national network and regional associations of LAGs within the country. The practical part brings findings from the questionnaire survey and direct analysis and synthesis of the evaluation of the activities of Aktivios within its contribution to the development of the region. The evaluation of the final outputs is further based on a structured interview provided to me by the chairman of the Regional Association of the National Network LAGs of the Czech republic of the Pilsen Region. The results of the thesis bring proposals for possible changes in the management of LAG Aktivios, Especially in evaluating the results of the position of the LAG for the past programming period.
