Idinova, Aidai ; Bernard Thompson Mikes, Antonin (advisor) ; Eckertová, Eva (referee)
Aidai Idinova Abstract The thesis will look at the how effective human rights protection can be, and especially regarding the Roma population in the Czech Republic. As there is a huge number of human rights, this thesis will focus on the right to education. Moreover, the case study of this thesis is the Roma population in the Czech Republic, therefore the rights and livelihoods of the Roma population will be analysed, examined and evaluated in this country. The thesis will also look at four hypotheses and try to find out if there really exists discrimination in the country, and to what extent; whether religion has an effect towards perceptions towards Roma; whether longer education changes one's attitudes towards Roma; and whether a communist past correlates with greater discrimination. But most importantly, this thesis will look at the right to education and the access to education for Roma students. Education is such an important human right as it has long-term effects in Roma's employment, health care and housing opportunities. Therefore, the Czech educational system will be analysed in regards to the socially disadvantaged group of the Roma population.

Holý, Michal ; Kuklík, Jan (advisor) ; Rákosník, Jakub (referee)
The basic aim of the thesis is to provide a sufficient image of the German minority's, the so-called "Sudeten-Germans'", legal status in the first Czechoslovak republic. The author of the thesis decided to include also a brief outline of the legal status of nations in the era of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy besides the analysis of all the three law of national minorities mainstays, the way they are specified by today's jurisprudence, together with the description of their origin circumstances. This was the time when both the real and theoretical basis of the issue were formed, going hand in hand with historical events that predetermined the following historical development in this case. Space is also given to the international political situation which had, together with the international legislation, essential influence on the origins of domestic legislation dealing with the German minority's status and its incorporation into the Czechoslovak republic itself. The thesis is divided in two basic parts - Cisleithanian Law of National Minorities and Czechoslovak Law of National Minorities and Protection of Minorities. The first of them is formed by two chapters, out of which one is aiming at outlining the legal and political dimension of the Czecho-German question on the background of the...

Žihlavníková, Martina ; Müller, Karel (advisor) ; Smetanková, Daša (referee)
With the dissolution of Czechoslovakia, the share of minorities in the total population increased and minority issues in Slovakia became highlighted. Integration and acceptance of the Hungarian minority in Slovakia, as a democratic country, is one of Slovakia's key priorities. Opinions on the so called "Hungarian question" change throughout the political spectrum. The composition of the government has therefore an effect on minority policies in Slovakia. The objective of this work lies mainly in the analysis of the status of the Hungarian minority in Slovakia after 1989. The primary goal is to examine how the position of the Hungarian minority changed, depending on the government. The thesis consists of two main parts. The first part will present theoretical knowledge on the issue of minority protection. The core of the other descriptive-analytical part is to examine an attitude of each government to the Hungarian minority. The status of the Hungarian minority in Slovakia will be presented at a cultural and civic-political level.
