Architecture, Geometry and Computers
Foretník, Jan ; Prof.Ing.arch.Jilián Keppl,CSc. (referee) ; Gürtler, Ivan (referee) ; Petříčková, Monika (referee) ; Ryšavá, Hana (advisor)
The topic of this thesis is geometry, its practical usage in architect’s profession (especially its application in computer design and realization of buildings) and its current way of teaching at schools of architecture. The thesis systematically describes geometric objects’ construction and properties, its modelling in CAD systems and examples of its usage in architecture, in some cases including the way of its realization. Geometric objects are systematically organized into chapters about point, curves, surfaces and solids. The outcome of the thesis is a concept of geometry courses modification in the way that they encourage the spatial imagination development instead of “drill” and the gained knowledge is directly useful in architect’s profession. A supplementary research (in appendix) analyses the state-of-the-art of teaching of geometry at selected schools of architecture in Europe and its effect to spatial imagination development. The research was focused at contents and form of the selected geometry courses and its influence to spatial imagination.
Testing of Recognizing Spatial Intelligence
Malý, Tomáš ; Škutková, Helena (referee) ; Sekora, Jiří (advisor)
This thesis deals with measurement issues in psychology, specifically online diagnostics of spatial abilities. It gives a brief look on psychological construct of intelligence and methods of measuring it, currently in the context of the most spread theory of intelligence C-H-C (Cattell- Horn-Carroll). This thesis focuses on ability called „Visualization“, that is understood as the ability to process visual perceptions and manipulate them in our imagination. The thesis includes functional software, which is made for online computer testing of spatial abilities in children of preschool, or school age.
Education Computer Program for Spatial Imagination Skill Development
Malina, Jiří ; Matějka, Pavel (referee) ; Štancl, Vít (advisor)
This Education software is for teacher on basic school, where you can present 3D models created by cubes. Application is useful for 3D orientation development and spatial imagination development of child on basic school, but it can be used by other organizations. Application is freeware and multiplatform.
Exercises developing the space reasoning
NOVÁKOVÁ, Kristýna
Bachelor thesis is focused on exercises for development of spatial imagination. Concepts that are connected with spatial imagination are described in my thesis. For example, the ability for space perception or the imagination itself. For the help of spatial imagination development are mentioned a few aids. The thesis contains a recherche of elementary curriculum and high school curriculum, a recherche of didactic entrance's exams and maturita exams and information about tests of spatial imagination. The bachelor thesis ends with an excercise which serve for the spatial imagination development.
Teaching a Spatial Geometry and Developing Spatial Abilities Using a Computer
Gergelitsová, Šárka ; Holan, Tomáš (advisor) ; Karger, Adolf (referee) ; Pech, Pavel (referee)
of doctoral thesis Title: Teaching a Spatial Geometry and Developing Spatial Abilities Using a Computer Author: Šárka Gergelitsová Department: Department of Software and Computer Science Education Supervisor: RNDr. Tomáš Holan, Ph.D., Department of Software and Computer Science Education Abstract: In this thesis we present a contemporary overview of current possibilities of using computer support for teaching geometry and the development of spatial imagination. The materials are aimed at the secondary school curriculum (for students 15-19 years old), many of them, however, could be used for younger or older students. The work is outlined as a tool and a set of teaching materials for teachers. The basic part of this thesis is a set of commented examples and tasks that can be solved by the use of dynamic geometry systems including the 3D models for these tasks. The set consists of more than 100 problems and examples with hints or answers and includes a CD with more than 300 supportive models including models-templates for creating tests. Materials include some prepared spatial imagination tests and quizzes. Some of the mo- dels serve as a tool for their design and offer automatic solution checking. We present also our own set of educational applications and games created to support the im- provement...
Spatial Geometry in Secondary School Education
Smetana, Adam ; Surynková, Petra (advisor) ; Šarounová, Alena (referee)
1 Title: Curriculum of solid geometry at czech high schools Author: Adam Smetana Department: Department of Mathematics Education Supervisor: RNDr. Petra Surynková, Ph.D Abstract: The topic of the bachelor thesis is Curriculum of solid geometry at Czech high schools. All of the basic and advanced terms are explained and shown in simple illustrations. The thesis contains a number of solved examples and exercises that are being taught at Czech high schools. All the examples are supported by 2D and 3D applets in GeoGebra software. Keywords: curriculum, solid geometry, cross sections, GeoGebra

Fostering of spatial imagination of students using three projections - different approaches in Czech and Danish Education
Petráková, Barbora ; Kloboučková, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Jirotková, Darina (referee)
TITLE: Fostering of spatial imagination of students using three projections - different approaches in Czech and Danish Education SUMMARY: This master thesis is focused on description of different conception of teaching geometry in chosen czech and danish mathematics textbooks and on the possibilities of fostering the spatial imagination at elementary school. On example of one particular class from an elementary school in Prague, we will take an inside view of the advantages and disadvantages of using three projection in mathematics education and its influence on development of spatial imagination. In this class, a diagnostic interview was taken to determine the level of spatial imagination development and in order to find out, how these children can work with three projections. KEY WORDS: pupils of primary school age, spatial imagination, three projections, conceptions of geometry teaching
