Typical features and genres in English for Specific Purposes.

V 21. storočí môžeme hovoriť o obrovskom náraste ľudí používajúcich anglický jazyk v ich každodennom živote. Angličtina sa stala jazykom používaným v globálnej sfére a je používaná vo všetkých odborných oblastiach ako veda, technika, ekonómia, zákon alebo medicína. Každá z týchto oblastí si vytvorila svoju vlastnú “odnož“ anglického jazyka, ktorá má svoje špecifické vlastnosti a žánre. Napriek tomu, že je každá z týchto oblastí odborného štýlu úplne odlišná, cieľom tejto bakalárskej je preskúmať ich a identifikovať ich typické žánre, špecifické vlastnosti a odlišnosti medzi nimi na základe textov pochádzajúcich z odborných kníh a časopisov.

The topic of this bachelor´s work is the analysis of the language of horse breeders and horse lovers. The theoretical part concentrates on the presentation of hobby and professional activity; thereafter there si made analysis of specific expressions in "horse language". The goal of the work is to examine this type of communication from a linguistic point of view and to enrich a practical study of non-standard Czech language.

This diploma thesis entitled "Equivalence in the translations of the German legal texts into Czech" focuses on the specific professional legal language and its translation in the European Union. The thesis introduces the concept definitions and main types of equivalence. Furthermore, it deals with theoretical and practical observation of equivalent legal terms in the German-Czech context. The aim of the work is to determinate the frequency of equivalence types in the observed text. Aspects of translation are based on the analysis of professional legal texts from "Directive on the right to information in criminal proceedings".

Variants of translation of German compounds into Czech (illustrated with translation of economic texts)

There are lot of variants how to translate German compounds into Czech. The reason is that in German the composition takes the most important place among the word-forming pattern. In Czech the main word-forming pattern is the derivation. This is the reason, why it is not possible to translate German compound into Czech by using the compound. The aim of the work is to create the summary of variants on the basis of analysis of economic texts. The texts are professional, so it is not possible to omit the terms, because the terms are the main charakterisctic of technical language.
