Role of probation and education programmes in tercial prevention of social deviation

This dissertation is focused on role of probation and education programs in area of tertiary prevention of social deviation. Large amount of youngsters usually fail or break the rules during the program. It was my goal to look over a point of view of adolescents to another implication of probation programs for their lives. My dissertation objective was to reveal the reason of probation programs for youngsters, who attend these programs either voluntarily or obligatorily.Probation officers, who choose the youngsters for program, haven't information about how big importance their clients attribute to sense of probation program and what experience they get. My dissertation is divided into two parts. For first theory. Theory is based on study of available literature, which deals with youth crime. Important part is explanation of the fact, what probation programs are and what is the sense and purpose of them. I will describe current experiences but also new knowledge about research of work with youth and successful foreign projects. The theoretical part is followed by empirical part. I've decided to make this research by form of interviews with clients of PMS, who ended the program successfully. Influence of Probation and Mediation Service in the Czech Republic to social rehabilitation of sentenced people of the South Bohemia.

The goal of my thesis called ´The influence of Probation and Mediation Service in the Czech Republic on the resocialization of convicted persons in the region of South Bohemia´ is a mapping of the work of Probation and Mediation Service in the CZ with perpetrators of crimes. In my thesis I was trying to map out fundamental concepts important for a clarification of Probation and Mediation Service´s activities, I was trying to explain the term and activities of the Probation and Mediation Service and its basic principles. I focused on the history of Probation and Mediation Service´s origin in the Czech Republic, further on I mentioned the goals of this service as well as the basic activities which are implemented by the Probation and Mediation Service CZ while working with their clients, i.e. perpetrators of crimes. In my bachelor thesis you will find a concise mapping of provided probation programs in the Southern judicial region. In the thesis there are specific examples of probation programmes for underaged as well as for adult perpetrators of crimes which were implemented in the past, or of those that are active in the Southern judicial region just currently, elaborated on. I implemented the qualitative research of my thesis on a research sample of eight probation workers from Southern judicial region. I carried out the research with communication partners in the center of Probation and Mediation Service in the CZ in Pelhřimov, Tábor, Český Krumlov and České Budějovice, using the method of interviewing and semi-structured interviewing. The main goal of my thesis is the finding of methods through which the Probation and Mediation Service in the CZ is trying to affect convicted people. Results have proven that probational workers believe that one of the useful methods used while working with convicted people is going through a probation programme, a quality proffessional interview, but also individual work within the imposed probation surveillance. Results have further proven that probation clerks are informed enough within probation programmes. Probation programmes are meant mostly for underaged perpetrators, there are also programmes meant for adult perpetators, but in a lower amount. The thesis should bring a clearer view of the problem of Probation and Mediation Services in the CZ, of the activities of the Probation and Mediation Services in the CZ working with criminal perpetrators, a view into probation programmes that crime perpetrators may go through within their resocialization.

Probation and rehabilitation programs for juvenile delinquents

The present thesis focuses on the phenomenon of juvenile delinquency. Attention is paid to influences and factors that influence the emergence of delinquent behavior in children and adolescents, and of course then the possibilities of justice and judicial response to this undesirable behavior in society. In the legal system of the Czech Republic, there is a separate piece of legislation that responds to the infringement of youth, it is the Law no. 218/2003. The Act represents a response options, and another dealing with children and juvenile offenders. In this Law is delimited the ability to store probation programs and cooperation with the Probation and Mediation Service, which intervenes and helps in dealing with infringements not only children and adolescents but also adults. Attention is paid mainly the form of options and probation programs that are provided by non-profit and non-governmental organizations to help juvenile offenders realize their behavior and above all to prevent recurrences. Probation and Mediation Service as an Important Factor of Juvenile Delinquent Resocialisation

Juvenile delinquency has become a common problem concerning all of us. Crime comitted by young people has risen in our society so there is a need to pay attention to the juvenile behaviour and try to prevent juvenile crime at the beginning. The teoretical part the Bachelor theses deals with presumed causes of juvenile delinquency, its prevention and sentencing in juvenile court. The practical part is focused on one of the discipline measures, the probation programme. The thesis is aimed at the evaluation of the probation programme called "Law in Everyday Life" which is used for recidivists. Together with the evaluation of the programme in some chosen regions, the work is particularly aimed at legal awareness and its improvement. Hypothesis 1 presumes that most of those who went throuhg the probation programme mentioned above have improved their legal awareness. Hypothesis 2 presumes that most of those who went through the probation programme mentioned above do mot commit any other crime in the next year. Tho prove the hypotheses, a quantitative research method, secondary data analysis, was used. All collected and proportionally processed data proved the hypotheses. The research findings show that the clients who completed the probation programme have gained new knowledge of particular legal issues and that most clients have not commited any other crime. The findings of the thesis can serve the workers of the Probation and Mediation Service to measure efficiency of the discipline measures, judges and state attorneys to choose the best measures and non-professionals to improve awareness of alternative sentencing programmes for children and youth.

Supervision as an Alternative Form of Punishment

The main goal of my work is to describe supervision as one of the alternative form of punishment. In the first part is described development of supervision in the world and Czech Republic and for comparison how supervision works in other countries of Europe. Other part is dedicated to work of Probation and Mediation service in Czech Republic. Main part of work is about description of the most important institutes with supervision, mainly to work of probation officer with clients. This part is supplemented by graphs and casuistries. Last part contains description of differences in supervision of children and juveniles.
