Imperium: Augustus. The comparison of the historical film with reality and its didactical use

The diploma thesis deals with the life and reign of Augustus, the first Roman emperor from the Julian-Claudian dynasty, and compares it to the only one television film about this historical figure. In the opening chapter, the author analyses the history of the Roman Empire from 133 BC to the death of Gaius Iulius Caesar in 44 BC. The other part of the thesis deals with the life and the reign of Augustus who influenced the Roman Empire for several decades. The third and the fourth chapter are devoted to the analysis of the historical film Imperium: Augustus and its comparison with the primary and secondary literature. The last chapter deals with applying the sequences of this historical film in history classes in schools.
Imperium: Nerone - Comparison of the Historical Film and Primary Sources and its Educational Use

The main objectives of this diploma thesis are to describe and analyze character of the Roman Emperor Nero, the last member of Iulo-Claudian dynasty, in the historical film, which was made as a part of a series about Roman history. The first part deals with history of the Roman Empire since Gaius Octavius`s arrival to Rome in 44 BC till death of the Emperor Claudius in 55 AD. The second part gives a description of the character Emperor Nero of the Roman Empire. It is believed that it was he who had the whole city of Rome burnt. Other parts of this thesis show analysis of the film Nero, císař římský. Imperium: Nerone (TV film) 2004. It is a comparison of his character from literary to theatrical sources. The last part describes a didactic use of the film. There is a presentation of a model lesson that was created and taught in practice by the author herself. Oriental Cults in Noricum during the Principate Era

The main topic of the diploma thesis are oriental, Syro-Anatolian cults, which had affected and influenced the natives and other religions in the province of Noricum. It also mentions their origins and the way how they came to Roman Empire. We have set this work into the principate era, because of it's main goal: to explain the arrival of the cults into the province and also the issue of their spreading, rather than their declining period. This diploma thesis is also supplemented with a catalogue, which contains data of every object, which was mentioned in the literature, on the subject of Syro-Anatolian cults.
The Imperial Propaganda with Focus on the Female Element in Portrait Art

The thesis is focused on the imperial propaganda in sculpture, gems and coins. It focuses primarily on the importance of the female element of propaganda, therefore describes how the goddesses are compared to empresses and how it happens. It also deals with portraits of emperors, who use display of female goddesses and personifications or other female elements in their portraits. The thesis rates the frequency of female subjects in different periods and their changes, separates the general set of themes of propaganda used by each emperor and female elements specific to a particular ruler. It follows the gradual portrait emancipation among women close to the emperor. Social changes and their reflection in political propaganda are also seen. Time period begins with the reign of Augustus, continues with Julio-Claudian dynasty, the year of four emperors, Flavian dynasty, Adoptive emperors and Severan dynasty.

Reform of state administration during the reign of Augustus Roman law reflected in non-legal antic relics Abstract The period of the late republic and the early principate was a time of many political, social and legal changes in the history of the ancient Roman state. In a relatively short period of time, the old state institutes collapsed and were fundamentally reformed or replaced with new ones. This thesis mainly focuses on the issue of reforms in selected areas of public law, namely the areas of state administration, tax administration and financial administration. In the field of state administration, the attention is paid to the reform of the provincial order, which had to be adapted to the new constitutional order of the state in which the princeps dominated, and the beginnings of the centralized offices of the Roman Empire, which were founded by Augustus, and which, under the rule of his successors, were further formalized and expanded into highly specialized bureaucratic bodies. Thesis title: Magisterial powers in Ancient Rome in the period of Principate The aim of this thesis is to provide a systematic overview of the image of the Imperial administration and palace offices during the times of the Principate during the first three centuries of Common Era. Their enumeration, powers and administrative agenda are described chronologically according to their presumed and documented origin in the reigns of the respective Emperors and dynasties, together with the most significant administrative policy and reforms of individual sovereigns. The description of the Imperial cabinet is set to a basic historical context, which sheds more light on the eventual motivation and reasoning behind the creation or abolition of individual offices or the enactment of the appropriate reform since the ascension of Octavianus to the throne until the overview of fundamental changes of state administration during the reign of Diocletianus.
