The area of Sedlčany in literary legends (based on chosen literary works)
MUSÍLKOVÁ, Michaela
The diploma thesis looks into literary legends of the Sedlčany and its closest area which is defined by cultural and geographical demarcation of the region. The four-volume Legends of Sedlčany area by regional author Karel Bazal are understood as the essential material of the thesis. The diploma thesis also aims to briefly summarize life and work of this author as well as to place him to literary context of the period. Focus will be paid to interpretation of characters as well as to interpretation of legends which will be based on assorted heuristic material. The diploma thesis will not only use theory of regional literature and genologic demarcation of legends, but it will also include photos of chosen places in Sedlčany area and design of project based learning based on interdisciplinary relations (prepared for secondary school class).

The work discusses the oral tradition of the tribe on the background of the regional development in the last two centuries. The Kotas used to live symbiotically with a few other local tribes with whom they developed a unique system of barter trade and services. The microregion remained isolated until new settlers started to arrive from the valley (in the beginning of 19th century). The arrival of the people from the valley and of the English people in the course of the last two hundred years caused a significant change of all aspects of life in the Blue Mountains: economic, social, cultural and ecological. Site of pilgrimage Křemešník. Changes of the realm of memory in 1918-1948

The aim of the bachelor thesis is to clerify changes of the site of pilgrimage called Křemešník in social memory during the first thirty years of the 20th century. At first, the study captures ecclesiastic history in Bohemia and in the Pelhřimov district as well as older history of Křemešník. Next, commemorative books written by local priests are analysed to document the main events of the observed period. Emphasis is also put on everyday life and on the personalities of the priests and their relations to the site of pilgrimage. Next part is dedicated to the pilgrimages, because the memory of the site was created especially by them. Attention is also paid to legends and miracles, which are connected with the spring on Křemešník. Popularity of the site is backed up by the following chapters, which deal with marriages and christenings in the pilgrimage church and with old publications about Křemešník. The bachelor thesis is summarized in the conclusion, which also provides additional options for further research.
Genres of epical fiction in Kosmas Chronicle

The goal of my work is trial to map epic genre in Kosmas chronicle. Main attention is pay to legends in the first part. Within a context of myth about princess Libuše, Matylda of Tuscana is also mentioned. In Matylda we try to recognise predecessor of Libuše. Furthermore we disclose possible origin of names of legendary Lords. We try to put Lucká válka in right historical context and searching background of the Girls war like the last theme of Přemyslovská legend.
Shape of collected folk-tales in Kosmas and Hájek

The aim of this graduation thesis is to record the slight differences in the myths compiled by Kosmas and Hájek. Vast attention is given to the analysis of the main storylines in the legends regarding Libuše, Přemysl Oráč and the girls´war, especially to the differences in the way the both authors tell their stories. The goal of the thesis is, by pointing to this diversity, to manifest in particular the shift in the purpose legends had in the era of Kosmas and in the epoch of Hájek. The thesis also tries to discover the impact of myths on the society. It records the shifts in the interpreting them during time and various methods of investigation. Last but not least, the thesis aims to point to the similarities in national legends and world-known myths. This similarity might than explain one of the real possibilities how national legends (had) originated.
