Impacts of computer literacy on senior citisen´s lives.
PEČENÁ, Jitka
The bachelor thesis is focused on computer literacy impacts on seniors ´ life. Old age and seniors are often discussed topic. The old age isn´t considered as a popular phase of life. Seniors stand on the edge of society with a low social status. Society is still focused on performance, flexibility, agility and power. Weakness in any form is judged in a negative way. There is not enough space for the old age and seniors in society. The main goal of this work is to learn if computers and computer literacy can influence senior´s life positively and if it can cause a change in social exclusion. This goal should have been achieved through quantitative research. The partial goal is to find out wishes and feelings of seniors in the area of networking, which is a practical activity doing on computer. The thesis is focused on seniors living in Pilsen at the age from 65 to 85 years old who finished or were finishing computer course while research. The thesis is divided into two parts theoretical and practical. The theoretical part tries to express and describe the old age phase, especially changes comming with this age. It deals with the term of "senior" and with situations typical for this phase of life. It also deals with term of "information" and working with them. It also tries to express the computer literacy definition. Additionally, this work also deals with education of seniors and its specifics, also with its tools to make the education effective. The theoretical parts finishes with description of computer courses accesibility in Pilsen. The possibilities how to apply computer skills are mentioned there, too. The practical part describes the quantitative research itself, also its metodology, questionaerre, data collection form and the evaluation way. The results are presented through graphs, chart and the result interpretation. There are three hypothesis which were stated at the beginning of research. Two hypothesis weren´t proved, one of them was possible to confirm. Computer literacy influences seniors ´life, the number of contacts rises. Seniors are motivated to attend computer courses not only to learn how to search for information, but also to stay in touch with young generation and to train their memory. There isn ´t higher number of women using computer than men at the computer courses in Pilsen. The results show that the impact of using computers on seniors ´ life isn ´t very important. Seniors prefer personal contact to using computer of phone calls. The impact of computer literacy on seniors ´ life was confirmed only in part. Computer courses are considered as well consumed time when a senior can train his memory, extend knowledge and get new friends as a bonus.
U3V VŠE a počítačová gramotnost v systému celoživotního vzdělávání
