From glory to oblivion? Changes of the site of pilgrimage Křemešník in the 20th century

The submitted work aims to clerify changes of the image of the site of pilgrimage called Křemešník in social memory during the dynamic 20th century. Author leans on her bachelor's thesis, which was focused on Křemešník in the first thirty years of the 20th century. Now she tried to describe rivalry of ecclesiastic and touristic segment in the first half of the 20th century, replaced by establishment of the communist dictatorship. The reports of the church secretaries helped to find out the attitude of ruling power to Křemešník, means of changing or deleting the memory of the site and the success rate of this effort. Attention was also paid to perception of Křemešník by ordinary people, compared with contemporary state using a questionnaire. Extant written sources were supplemented with memories of contemporary witnesses.

This thesis focuses on the Unity of the Brethren and Jan Blahoslav who was an embodiment of the synthesis of Christian reformation and humanism. It documents the historical context and describes the gradual process of implementing the principles of humanism and education in the Unity of the Brethren since the origins of the Unity all the way to the activity of Jan Blahoslav. It touches on the connection between the courses of reformation and humanism. It charts the personality and life's work of Jan Blahoslav with emphasis on humanistic principles of his work. The Master Thesis World of the Burgesses of Rokycany in the Light of Their Testaments in 16th - 18th Century is based on the studies of two books of last wills and testaments stored in the State District Archives in Rokycany. The base of sources is further enlarged by the prescriptive literature of that time, i.e. books of good deaths, the book of the St. Mary's Fraternity and church registers. Attention was gradually paid to the transformation of the testamentary practice in Rokycany, to the representation of piety in the testaments and to the perception of death. Moreover the author of the work has aimed her attention to the evidence of the structure of families in the Early New Age, of the social environments of the testator and material culture of the burgesses' households seen from the testaments. A component part of the thesis is a picture annex.

World of Women of the Town of Český Krumlov in 1500-1650

The Master Thesis World of Women of the Town of Český Krumlov in 1500-1650 is based on the studies of the book of testaments, separately filed last wills and probate Inventories and the book of wedding contracts stored in the State District Archives of Český Krumlov. As another source, two types of prescriptive literature were used, namely the moralistic literature dealing with the roles of women, and the books of good deaths. Gradually the attention was paid to the transformation of sources, to women in the norms of the Early New Age, marriages and matrimony, structures of families, family relations and the social enviroments of women. The Thesis is also aimed at the piety of women, perception of death and the material culture of the women´s households.
