Stříteský, Vladimír ; Balcar, Petr (advisor) ; Geršl, Adam (referee)
The focus of this thesis is to provide a complex framework for design of process-based organizational structure, which is currently lacking in the academic literature. Thesis starts with development of a complex process improvement framework, continues by developing process/activity owner assignment framework and connects the process management with design of organizational structure. The developed framework consists of two parts, the "As Is" analysis, capturing the current state of affairs and the "To Be" design developing an optimal arrangement. A basic evaluation tool is provided to assess the effects of changes to the process structure. Practical part applies newly developed framework in a business entity. The process improvement is used to design new process-based organizational structure, which in terms of efficiency surpasses the current matrix organizational structure. Ratajová, Kristina ; Balcar, Petr (advisor) ; Polák, Petr (referee)

However, the costs resulting from undelivered projects or projects delivered in poor quality would significantly exceed those costs paid for project management. The firm is analysed in a form of a case study with a combination of semi-structured interviews, analysis and visualization of relevant data and comparison to the best prac- tices. Two specific projects are analysed in depth and project portfolio performance of one team is evaluated. The detailed analysis provides demonstration of project management methodologies and proves its importance. It shows the correct procedures in the firm as well as inefficien- cies and rooms for improvement. Furthermore, it shows practices of managing multiple projects at once in order to reach balanced portfolio and maximize its profitability. 1

Designing Performance Measurement System for Strategic Optimize-Sourcing Function in the Professional Services Firm
Mysin, Roman ; Wagner, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Matyáš, Ondřej (referee)
The development and application of performance measurement systems for a purchasing function within a professional service company possesses a great challenge for both practitioners and academics. Despite the increasing popularity of this topic, the systems that are currently developed are rarely adequate to be applicable at the business-unit level. Furthermore, the existing productivity measures are predominantly designed to measure performance in industries where the inputs and outputs are both tangible and standardized items. Intangible and non-quantifiable factors of production cannot be reliably measured by manufacturing performance methodologies. Consequently, purchasing professionals seek tools to accurately track purchasing performances and connect it to given business strategies and objectives. This paper aims to develop a design of the performance measurement system that can be applicable onto the optimize-sourcing department of the selected firm of this study. The first section of the paper outlines key performance measurement concepts and establishes a theoretical framework that supports the following research. Subsequent questionnaires and interviews that were conducted with vital stakeholders reveal the flaws of the current performance measurement system. Conclusions derived from the interviews and questionnaires support the findings of extensive literature reviews. In the following chapters, the paper focuses on the development of the new model that overcomes limitations of the model in use. The thesis also lists additional recommendations on the implementation phase of the new model. In the final section, this paper emphasizes the limitations of the proposed model and describes potential challenges related to the implementation phase.
Pilot implementation of Business Intelligence in a retail company
Savka, Ján ; Novotný, Ota (advisor) ; Matějka, Martin (referee)
The thesis focuses on implementation of Business Intelligence in a small retail company. The aim of the thesis is to design a pilot Business Intelligence solution to support management activities in Lintea, s. r. o. The company is part of Slovak lingerie and underwear retail market since 2004. Business performance measurement is not effectively supported in the company. Rise in the quality level of management activities is the main benefit of the proposed implementation which is achieved by delivering previously inaccessible or laboriously accessible information in an appropriate form. Proposed solution substantially simplifies, accelerates and improves management and decision making activities in the company. Thesis has two parts: theoretical and practical. Theoretical part has two chapters devoted to performance management and BI. Chapter about performance management presents wider aspects of using BI in companies and introduces the Balanced Scorecard method. Chapter about Business Intelligence defines BI, explains its principles, components and basic analytic method of BI - the dimensional modelling which is then applied in the practical part. The theoretical part ends with the description of current situation in the BI market. The practical part starts with the introduction of the company Lintea, s. r. o. followed by the description of its current state and proposal of the business performance measures based on the Balanced Scorecard method. Second chapter of the practical part contains the proposed Business Intelligence solution itself. Individual steps of the Business Intelligence design process are: analysis of prerequisites and requirements, analysis of data sources, dimensional modelling, ETL design, multidimensional data structures design and finally presentation layer design.
