The thesis assignment was to develop a block in the Veveří district of Brno. The design for this locality in Brno is aimed at integrating the existing block structure into a new, harmonious system. The area under consideration, located in the Veveří district, is divided into two blocks by Závodní Street. The first part of the area creates an inner block with existing buildings. This block is located between Závodní Street and Sokolská Street. The existing buildings form a closed space, which will be urbanistically complemented to enhance its functionality and aesthetic value. The proposal includes the revitalization of the internal spaces, the addition of greenery, and the creation of areas for relaxation and social interaction for the residents. The second block, which arises as part of the new development, is influenced by the presence of a protected plane tree. This tree has a designated protective zone, requiring the block to be partially set back. This approach creates a public space along the busy Veveří Street.

This master's thesis focuses on a complex architectural and urban design of a multifunctional urban block in the historic center of Brno at the level of architectural study. The project aims to harmoniously integrate new buildings into the historical context of the city and respect the surrounding urban fabric. The proposal addresses the completion of an existing urban block and the creation of a new urban block between Veveří and Kounicova streets, thus creating a new Závodní street. The design preserves a memorial tree as a key element of the public space; the facade of the building steps away from it, creating a public space of a piazzetta with the memorial tree as the focal point. As part of the blue-green infrastructure, new greenery is integrated into the streets, and buildings with flat roofs have vegetated roofs with photovoltaic panels designed. The architectural solution includes two underground floors for parking, a ground floor with an active commercial ground floor with shops and a supermarket, and five above-ground floors with residential units. The last above-ground floor is set back from the rest. The urban design focuses on slowing down busy traffic and puts pedestrians in a dominant position. The architectural design respects the character of the area and combines traditional forms with a modern appearance. The structural solution of the building combines a reinforced concrete skelet system with a ceramic wall system. The project exploits the potential of land use and brings up to 399 new residential units ranging from 1+kk to 4+kk, with higher standard apartments on the last setback above-ground floor.
Townhouse

The subject of the diploma thesis is the design of a set of town houses within the Veveří, Pekárenská, Kounicova and Závodní blocks in Brno. The town house represents a historical archetype that represents the ideal functional composition of the building within the compact structure of the development in the wider center of Brno. The polyfunctionality of individual houses consists of a vertical functional division, where the ground floor is usually home to commercial units intended for catering, trade, administration or small production. Urban blocks, by their closure, firmly define the boundary between private and public. Public space is fairly dedicated to all. The non-public inner block is dedicated only to residents, which provides a rare added value with its functional content from recreational sports, relaxation, gardening. Some apartments are also oriented towards the inner block, which have direct contact between the interior and the exterior. On the higher floors, access to the exterior is ensured by means of loggias, balconies and terraces of stepped floors. Part of the inner block is dedicated to a single-storey supermarket, the capacity of which follows on from the existing operation. The roof of the supermarket is a connected part of the terrain of the inner block. On the roof there is a recreational multifunctional playground, an active sports area, a terrace connected to the community hall and a community sauna. All sections have access to a shared courtyard for residents. The underground parking is situated on two floors, separated from the parking for residents and visitors to the supermarket and other commercial units. The character and spatial solution of the objects is based on knowledge of the place and the surrounding objects, which are located in the city's heritage zone on the near border of the Brno city heritage reserve. The building thus brings a new architectural layer to the place with respect for its surroundings. The building is divided by urban-architectural details, such as stepped floors, accented corners, risality, gabled roof gables, vertical material solution of the facade or the same rectangular format of vertical window openings. However, the architectural solution inspired by history is dressed in a contemporary coat, which ensures the careful use of energy, rainwater management, the support of biodiversity and, with its positive approach to the human scale, the support of social sustainability. Vegetation areas for rainwater management are located not only on roofs, but also on facades, specifically on railings, which are the subject of a separate architectural detail solution. In addition to individual town houses, the proposal also includes the creation of the structure and character of public spaces. In particular, the character of the city street Veveří is strengthened, the new Závodní street is created and the character of the existing service streets is adjusted, in which the pedestrian is favored over the driver, and adequate traffic calming solutions were chosen with the aim of supporting mobility by public transport. Professor Chudoba's memorial tree is the centerpiece of the new important public space, with its parameters of a patch. A majestic tree closes the interior of this space and creates an ideal environment for meetings with the possibility of a longer stay thanks to the situated catering facilities.
Mapping of heritage trees in the selected locality
HLUBOCKÁ, Denisa
The main aim of this bechelor's thesis is to map and desctribe the memorial trees in my chosen locations in Tábor district, to measure them (if possible) and to evaluate tzhe state of health overal. It goes on to equate motives for the preservation of memorial trees in the past, and especially in the present. I divided the care itself into its meaning at work, and further into abiotic and biotic factors. Last but not least, there is a reference to the principles of care and the cost of it. I also focused on the promotion of protection of memorial trees by the state - subsidy pro-grams etc. The District of Tábor, which I chose for my bachelor thesis, is located in the northern part of the South Bohemia Region. The district is bordered by the districts of Písek, Jindřichův Hradec and České Budejovice. Next, Tábor district adjoins Benešov district and a little with Příbram district in the Central Bohemian region and Pelhřimov district in the Highlands. This Bachelor thesis contains a description of the memorial trees and their mapping.
Intenzive Urban Housing Brno
Jabůrková, Dominika ; Zadražilová,, Miroslava (referee) ; Menšíková, Naděžda (advisor)
The aim of this Master thesis was to create urban structure situated in the particular resident area of Brno city centre. The solution offers mixing of different functions (living, shopping, workshops, offices, restaurant, other services and working possibilites) on a relative small built up area. This is realized with a help of two main principes/multiplicity and verticality. The efective use of the area was achieved with dividing the space to the „calm“areas and „busy“ areas. Calm areas are a park in courtyard and the roof gardens, busy area is a new diagonál street with shops, restaurant, fastfood and galery. The objects have different height, the highest one is 12 floors tall. In the first one are different functions as kindergarten, shops, administrative, gallery, insurance, coffee, in the second one there is partly administrative and infant school. Flats and studios are designed from the second floor to the 11 floor. The 12th floor offers a coffeebar with a view of Brno dominants. There is parking and technical device space in the two underground floors. The construction system is reinforced concrete monolitic skelet with girders, the horizontal constructions are reinforced monolitic plates. The buildings are founded on reinforced concrete flaps.
