Analysis of ichtyofauna of the Czech Republic focused on alien species

This thesis analyzes the ichthyofauna in Czech Republic in historical terms, i.e. how was the data on the occurrence of native species of fishes and lampreys collected. Particular attention is given to species alien to this territory - the following species are elaborated in more detail: Carassius auratus, Ameiurus nebulosus, Pseudorasbora parva, Ctenopharyngodon idella, Hypophthalmichthys molitrix, Aristichthys nobilis, Gasterosteus aculeatus, Coregonus maraena,Coregonus peled, Acipeneser baerii, Acipeneser stellatus, Acipenser gueldenstaedtii. The history of the introductions, the current situation in the Czech Republic and the impact on native ichthyofauna are listed (a more detailed evaluation of invasiveness is included for Carassius auratus, Pseudorasbora parva). Finally, the efforts to enrich the local ichthyofauna by introducing new species are generally evaluated.
Relationship between species diversity, temperature and productivity for native and non-native plant species

Latitudinal gradient of diversity is typically being explained by the three main hypotheses: The Resources Limitation Hypothesis, The Speciation Rate Hypothesis and The Niche Conservatism Hypothesis. In my study I tested basic assumptions of these hypotheses using native and non-native vascular plants obtained from the new database GloNAF (Global Naturalized Alien Flora). I tested an effect of precipitation, NPP, temperature and historical velocity (difference in temperature and precipitation between the Last Glacial Maximum and present) on species richness. Given that the distribution of non-native species is among continents irregular (we can divide them into two groups - Australia with Europe and North America and South America with Africa and Asia), I tested the abovementioned relationships at both - global and continental scale. Species richness of native species increased with NPP, precipitation and temperature and decreased with the difference in temperature. The global distribution of non-native plants increased with precipitation and temperature velocity and decreases with temperature and precipitation velocity, although the results varied for particular continents. Use of Autochthonous Species in Garden and Landscape Creation

The topic of this thesis discusses the use of native woods in the landscape. It focuses especially Betulaceae, Fagaceae family. The introductory section explains the relations between man and the nature, which affected today's landscape and became the base for landscape planning and the nature and woods protection by law. This is followed by explaining the autochthones and allochthones woods, their features, positives, negatives, which are important for the landscaping. In the next section there is a summary of origin of autochthonous species from various parts of the European continent and their influence on natural vegetation in the Czech Republic. The thesis includes rules for choosing native woods. There is description of climatic demands, aesthetic and landscape principles as well. Next part mentions basic characteristics of each families and spreading of chosen woods across Europe. Main part of the thesis is dedicated to individual species and its habitat characteristics as a height, the shape of top and there is description leaves, buds, flowers, fruits and root system. This is followed by significant cultivars for landscaping, climate and soil conditions and possibilities of use. Important part of the thesis is the table showing how the species look like during the phenology cycle with chronology organization. The symbology is only secondary information. At the end of every chapter is photo documentation.
