Methodology of archival survey of works of art from the second half of the twentieth century in public space

The aim of the methodology is to acquaint the professional public with the possibilities of archival research of works of art from the second half of the twentieth century situated in architecture and in the public space. Its origin is related to the ever more pressing problems of the preservation of these artistic implementations. The spectrum of usable written and pictorial sources ranges from private archives and estates of artists or architects to variously thorough documentation in regional museums and galleries and to funds in which the official approval procedures for the works are recorded; these took place on the level of state authorities (national committee) and within the agenda of professional organizations. The text provides basic orientation in archival funds. It focuses above all on more systematic possibilities of research in the archival materials of the Czech Visual Arts Fund’s company Dílo. With this originator, which centrally administered orders for artwork commissions in the socialist state from 1954, it is possible to study the works not in isolation but in a wider context of their origin, within the framework of the individual regions, etc. The methodology includes segmentation of regional funds of this kind and presents characteristic types of archival materials that can be used in the research.

Amenhotep III - solar and royal ideology

The reign of Amenhotep III represents one of the most crucial period of the Eighteenth Dynasty. Over the course of this dynasty, royal ideology, as a major means of power of the Egyptian ruler, was constantly being developed and underwent significant alterations. One long lasting debate has focused on the possibility that Amenhotep III was already deified during his lifetime, but up to now no detailed study that would analyse contemporary documents, whether connected to the king himself or related to his officials, has taken place. The aim of this thesis was to find and answer to this question by means of an analysis of written and iconographic sources from both the royal sphere as well as the domain of the officials. The result of this research, based among others on an in-depth study of the names, epithets and iconography of the ruler, indicates that Amenhotep III was already deified during his life and it allows even the definition of his divine characteristics and aspects as a solar god. Ledenice. The probes to the history of the southbohemian townlet in middle ages and early modern times.

This bachelor thesis deals with the written records referring to Ledenice and their owners from 1278 to 1611. It studies the transfers of property among the families of south Bohemia that means the alternation of authorities the local people were subordinate to. In the second plan there is indirectly reconstructed the everyday life of the citizens of Ledenice during the reporting period by means of the description of local natural conditions, which affect the economic production, by means of the building developement of the village which can also tell us many about the subsistence possibilities as well as increasing or dicreasing prestige of this locality. Last but not least the work deals with the granted privileges which can have the key impact on the citizens, making them more than plain villagers, but less than the townsmen. This bachelor thesis uses the interdisciplinary approach, primarily the combination of historical methods and archaeological informations which allow us to reconstruct the historical form of Ledenice and to make the rough concept of the local defunct castle. This significantly helped to reach the finish which was to bring the most complete knowledge about Ledenice in the reporting time.
